Poll: Do You Partition to 1 Drive or Multiple Drives? Lets see!

With all the new and latest hard drives running at high RPMs and the Largest of Large HD's that we just love, i just have one question, What do you do? Do you format to 1 big fat drive or do you partition it to smaller drives?

I have a 60gb IBM 60gxp....I like having one big drive, i would hate to be recording music and just stop saying not enough disk space, ok let's continue on the next drive!

PLEASE STAY ON TOPIC, NO COMPANY FLAMING, JUST HARDDRIVES IN GENERAL! Thanks!

3, dual boot, and programs.

If I didn't dual boot would be 2, OS and Programs.

I have the WD120JB can afford to do that w/o worry about running out of space.

At least two partitions: one for the OS (NTFS - I use ~6GB for XP w/ program files) and one for data (FAT32).

Multiple

I have two drives in my comp. Boot drive is a Seagate Barracuda IV 80 GB with three NTFS parttitions. Second drive is a WD 40 GB drive divided into two partitions, one NTFS one FAT for Ghost images.

With a seperate C: drive it's easy to do a clean install or restore from a small ghost image while all data remains undisturbed on other partitions.

You should add a "both" to your poll.

I decided to kill the RAID 0 on my HDs... I have 1 partition on my master HD (OS, drivers, and programs) and the other HD contains 3 partitions (MP3s, downloads, and backup)

i like one big one. partitions help me keep organized, but i kept running into the problem of not having enough space to put a big program on the partition i wanted, then having to move stuff around. too much hassle, i'll just be unorganized.

If that's your only drive then I'd say to make a minimum of two partitions - one for Windows and one for yourself.

I have my 60 GB drive in one partition and all of my games sit on it. Of course my other drive is partitioned into two units.

1 30gb drive, and 1 100gb drive. i used to partition into C: D: and E: but now it saves me time by going 1 big drive after a format
