I have quite a few.

Cost = about $700 a month :p

Ok... I just got a PM from someone asking me if I'm insane :Q

$700 a month = ~500GB disk space and ~6000GB Bandwidth

2 domains
$13.50 a month with Dathorn
I believe I get 3GB of space and 30,000MB of bandwidth.

I've never even gotten close to filling that, but I've paid it off already for the year by hosting some stuff.

Reseller Web Hosting at it's finest :)

Just a hypothetical example:

You purchase a resellers web hosting account for $35/mo which allows you to host unlimited domains and become the "middle man" (naming your own price).

You charge your clients $20/mo for small web hosting packages, currently you have 5 clients = $100/mo revenue.

$100 - $35 = $65/mo steady profit

I  web hosting :)

hosted through e-rice, 44.99 a year, domain cost me $30 for 5 years a few years back.

At ~$51 a year, I'm satisfied with my investment.

Just used my free domain from ISP (2 years).
Now I have to work out what to do with it, whether I should just leave it as a name, or host something.

Is it possible to "host" on your own computer if you have a static IP? (despite needing a computer to be on 24/7 and the obvious serious secirity issues).

Yes, its techincally possible, but I would greatly advice against it.

Yes but I would also advise against it.
