As of now the poll indicates that 33% of Californians don't like it there.
If 33% of the population would move out of state, California would be a much better place than it is today. When the Technology boom hit the Bay Area, tens of thousands of out of state and foreign workers moved there causing housing shortages which resulted in sky high housing costs, freeways becoming extremely congested due to overcrowding resulting in the quality of life declining dramatically. It seems that economic success has its negative aspects and the Bay Area is a prime example of those negative aspects. What was once a great place to live is now a mass of humanity stepping all over each other to get where they are going.

Hell, overpopulation of the state started in the 60s, and just got worse from there. I say take it back to pre 1965 population, and I'd be happy to move back to my home town. 🙂

I am happy to say I don't live in CA, and I'm unhappy to say I live in IL. IL is way to cold, I think I'll move to Texas🙂

i live in los angeles now...lived here for a year and a half...i enjoy it, but would rather probably live on the east coast, probably a lot has to do with the fact that 90% of my friends and family are still on the east coast...

id like to live here at least 1 more year, but will probably be moving soon because of a job...

i cant stand traffic though...and LA sux for that...everytime im stuck on the 405 or 10...im like...why in the hell am i living here

i really like northern california, where i live, but southern california is really antiseptic and soul-sucking, to put it mildly.

In SoCal it starting becoming over populated in the mid 60's (the reason my family moved to the Bay Area). It didn't start happening to the Bay Area until the Mid 80's and it really got out of control in the 90's

Cali rules. That's why so many people want to move/live here or have moved here already.

When I was interviewing for a job, the interviewer asked me which offices I would like to occupy. I said San Francisco. She rolled her eyes and said that no matter what school she visits in any state, the overwhelming majority choose San Fran. 😉

The weather, the diversity, the economy. Cali recently passed France as the 5th largest economy in the world.

..................But hey! As long as you like where you're living, the more power to you. That is the most important thing in life! 🙂

If I could, I'd really like to live in SoCal. I don't even mind traffic since I usually take the bus or subway 🙂

I

a) used to live in socal and never wanted to leave
b) but had to and now live in pennsylvania and it sucks major ass.

I live in sometimes sunny Solana Beach, Ca. As far west as I could get from NYC wherein I lived for the first seventeen years of my life... I'd not leave here even if Jerry Brown was govenor again.

Can't get fresh blue crabs in California. Everything you described can also be transferred to Maryland, except for sports teams (we do have 2 NFL teams, in Landover and Baltimore, though).

Okay, after reading a few posts...you do have weather on us, i suppose...But I'll take the largest estuary in the world over your bay...

I don't really think it's more of the amenities we have around.. it's more of the relaxed attitude. I used to live in the East Coast, and just to me, a lot of it seemed really tense. Several of my friends who used to live around here and went to East Coast schools say the same thing, usually the California/West Coast people are more relaxed and the East Coast people seem a bit more on edge or worrisome. I think the whole beach/surfer attitude that's been around here since the 60's and the weather puts that on us. I'm assuming Floridans might have that same train of thought as well.

I realize this might not be indicative of all of California, as I had the more uptight feeling up in NorCal and I've yet to live anywhere besides the Bay Area and Orange County in California, but I really love it here in OC and the benefits outweigh the costs of living around here. Housing is pretty cheap still around here (okay not super cheap, but not overinflated like in the Bay Area), we also have some of the top high schools in the nation in Orange County (University, Troy, Fountain Valley all rank in the top 20 high schools for AP Exams taken/passed) and there are a lot of those magnet schools around here as well.
