Just buy GTA: VC and see if you like the soundtrack.

If you do, you'll like 80's music.

Hence, I voted yes.

Passion Burning, Love so strong.

I had not heard that one in years untill I saw the Eistien Brothers Bagel commercial last week.

My first music choice comes from the '70s. Much more serious lyrics, arangements and instrument skills. But, I do very much like quite a bit of music from the early '80s. Didn't care for Wham, Duran Duran or any disco that carried over into the '80s.

REO Speedwagon and The Police came out in the '70s, as did the bulk of Slammy1's list. The '80s groups and artists were a lot more upbeat and very musical. Lots of original stuff, which I really appreciate. Ones I liked included:There are quite a few more '70s groups who spanned the '80s, but the ones listed had their big hits during the '80s. Heh, a few one hit wonders in there, but I like them just as much as any.

80's is what I grew up with, and much better than some of the garbage out now. Don't get me wrong, there are good songs and bands out there, but the 80's just had a whole lot more.

Funny how so many of your choices dip back into the '70s. Something happened to music on the way to the new millennium, and it wasn't good. Rap sure didn't help! I'm certainly glad there's an abundance of classic rock stations to listen to. There probably wouldn't be so many, if today's music was worth a damn.

Can't think of anything from Styx that I like, but they also range back to 1973.

I can't think of many, if any, current artists or groups that will be played 2 years from now, let alone 20 or 30 years on!

"Abra, abracadabra--gonna reach out and grab ya" <---there's some Pulitzer winning lyrics there

Bands like Poison, Bon Jovi, Motley Crew and the like had so much unrealized potential--all that hair would have provided a spectacular immolation

Leans a little toward the tree hugging spectrum, but not bad:
  • Beds Are Burning
    Midnight Oil

    Out where the river broke
The bloodwood and the desert oak
    Holden wrecks and boiling diesels
    Steam in forty five degrees

    The time has come
    To say fair's fair
    To pay the rent
    To pay our share

    The time has come
    A fact's a fact
    It belongs to them
    Let's give it back

How can we dance when our earth is turning
How do we sleep while our beds are burning
    Four wheels scare the cockatoos
    From Kintore East to Yuendemu
The western desert lives and breathes
    In forty five degrees

While a lot of '80s music is pure dog poop (Wham! for example), the best of it is considerably better than anything produced today.

Could you mention what you consider the best 80s music is?

Some. Yes.

All.

No.

But the same can be said for music from any decade.

Well except for the 60's of course. ;)

There was some kind of synergy at work during this time. The great bands from the '70s were still cranking out quality stuff, and MTV was getting off the ground. It seemed to bring out the best in a wide range of musicians from around the world. Wonder what happened since...

I grew up on it so yes I do like it. I see 80's and early 90's as my music. It was at that time my CD collection grew.

Depeche Mode, Simple Minds, Talking Heads, U2, The Cure ......
Lots of them continued in to the early 90's.
