I currently have cable, but the DirecTV installers are coming tomorrow... 😀 Can't wait to ditch the cruddy cable signal...

Dave

I am so jealous!

Which programming package did you get?

I'm getting the Total Choice + local channels, first 6 months at $29.99 a month... even at the regular price it's still cheaper than my current analog cable, and I get more channels. Plus, I got a smokin' deal at BestBuy this weekend, 3 rooms with triple-LNB dish, plus a DirecTivo, and a $75 BestBuy gift card.... total cost to me: $25. W00t!

Dave

Great deal, thanks for rubbing it in (although I did ask for it 😛 ).

You gonna upgrade that DirecTIVO bad boy?

I just got DirecTV w/ Tivo last month and I'm loving it. I got the Total Choice Plus w/ local channels and HBO. I'd previously had Comcast digital cable for about 4 years (had wanted DTV for a long time, but lived in apartments) and hated how slow and ugly menus where and how poor the image quality was. I'm looking forward to NFL Sunday Ticket now.

No problem, any time... 😀

You bet... Gonna network it and probably drop a second drive in too...

Mine has two USB ports but they're inactive IIRC.

From what I've read you can upgrade the OS to version 4.0, or use a special ISO image to enable those.... more info can be found here.

Shouldn't you add Dish/others to your poll?

I assume by DTV, you were meaning all satellite TV, right?

For the record, I have Cable TV and Internet. The cable company makes it easy for me to have the cable TV switched on and off almost any time I feel like it, so I'm not considering satellite TV at this point. (Plus, I live in an apartment on the NE corner of the building, so installation would be a pain because the landlord doesn't allow installation on the roof of his building. Dishes must be mounted on a pole near the SW corner of the building. He's rightfully concerned that the installers might cause the roof to spring a leak, which it already does often enough without help. It's an 80+ year old building.)

cable, but would kill for direct.

I hate Comcast. I pay $45 a month for less that sixty channels. For the same price with Direct I would get 130, and for $5 more I could have Tivo.

If they hadn't raised the prices a month ago you could have Total Choice plus w/ locals for $45 with a TIVO. That's the deal I have for the next year (locked in at the old price).

Holy sh!t!!!! That site is awesome!!

I install them (DTV/Dishnet/Voom/DWay/etc.) but I have no TV in the house at all, go figure that one out 😀

If I did get any of them though it would be DTV with at least one Tivo unit😀

Take note that "DirectTV but thinking about going back to cable" has received zero votes... That's not a fluke. 🙂
