Not as comfy, IMO. They can be nice and warm when they sit in the sun in the morning though. :)

EDIT- voted yes btw. I have a leather couch and a couple of leather chairs that I absolutely love. It's like anything else, you have to shop around and sit on a lot of stuff before you find something you like.

if you live in a place like seattle, where it is only hot a couple months out of the year, i don't think many people will have air conditioning. i don't, at least...

I don't think leather couches are over-rated. But it has to be the right type of leather couch, i HATE stiff leather - whether it be seats or couches. If it's leather it has to be cushy and soft.

The only thing worse than a leather couch is leather upholstery in a car.

I'll take cloth in both any day.

I have leather couch set in my livingroom.. had it for about a year now, only sat on it maybe 5-6 times. So, I've come to the conclusion that it's there for decoration only.

For 2 weeks solid last summer it was 85-95 farenheit. We have no A/C. Got up to 97 one day :(.

So yes it gets hot here, at least by our standards.

That's hot alright. Atlanta is 85-95 pretty much every day from July to mid-September.....you'd hate it. ;)

According to your profile, you live in Irvine. According to Weather.com you barely get below 50 or over 80 the whole freaking year. Looks like you're the wimp. :p

leather couches are great if you live in an area that's cool and dry. If you're stuck in the humid and hot east coast in the summer time, then it blooooooooooowwwws....

I've got a leather couch and a leather chair. Bought them after extensive shopping around. On both of them, the leather is soft as a baby's butt. Both are extremely comfortable. I like leather over cloth. If you take care of it, it wears better than cloth, smells better than cloth, is easier to clean than cloth, and is easier to repair if you tear it than cloth.

I have leather in my car as well and will always choose a GOOD leather upholstry in a car over cloth any day.

Not overrated they suck. Smelly, 2x the price, and not comfortable. I would rather sit on burlap bags filled with sand.

You fat smelly white guys... sheesh. ;)

I live in Southern California... even in the valley where its hottest, and I never stick to the couch. And I don't see how they smell either... unless its eminating from you...

We own a regular recliner couch set and a leather couch set.

I have a leather couch and chair on order. Should be delivered around mid-Feb. Spent about two months looking at couches and I think I sat in every couch in every store in town (that's alot of couches, btw). Of the 3 most comfortable, two were leather...a Laz-y-boy and a Natuzzi, which I bought, and the other was a microfiber fabric. The Laz-y-boy was by far the most comfortable couch I've ever sat in but I couldn't justify the cost.

Leather is generally pretty easy to clean especially if it has been treated. I used to think leather SUV interiors were just for looks but after trying to clean mud off my truck's fabric seats following a weekend of hiking and camping, I began to see the light.
