I still do. I always build new systems with one because they're cheap, and I need them to update the BIOS, and other bootup procedures (like Memtest)... However, I hear lots of people don't use them nowadays...

Yup. Most of my machines have internal floppies b/c I can find them laying around my school for free. So there's no reason not to install one.

I still put them into systems when I build. They're dirt cheap, the bays are there, and though I rarely use one these, days, when they're very convienient for certain tasks.

Thank you for re-asking a question that has been asked millions of times before....

And, "regular floppy drives"? As opposed to uber 5.25 inch ones? Hee, hee...

And if you wanted to know, I stopped puting "regular" floppy drives in my systems 4 years ago. USB flash drives & email for me...

no. my laptop don't have a floppy drive. only my desktop. anyhow, i just use a usb drive; which is faster, more reliable and hold bigger files. u don't know how many times i have to throw away a floppy disk just because my drive won't read it.

Yep for things such as HD diagnostics that run from say Dr DOS, or Caldera. And for programs such as Ontracks "Data Eraser" to clean a HD. My main system however, doesn't need one to load SATA drivers since the mobo will boot the SATA drive natively.

Well, can you flash a BIOS using those newer USB drives? If so, I might switch over to them instead of the floppys.

I was hoping for a yes and no poll, but ok. Yes means you do and no means you use something else?
