POLL: Do you eat the cookies?

The lovely, thoughtful ladies of my building have set up a little holiday cheer station just down the main hall from all the offices. They took great care to prepare yummy cider and treats of all types.

The problem is, this hallway is the one everyone must take to get to the restrooms. As a matter of fact, the table itself is right outside the men's room door.

Participate in the poll. Now.

Does it matter to anyone else that (like in many places I've been) handwashing doesn't have a high priority around here?

No. Do you think their location determines the fact that they could possibly be contaminated?

If they were on the other side of the building someone could still have touched them without having washed their hands. Stop worrying about it.

And you think if the table was anywhere else in the office more people would wash their hands?

I don't know - the thought of fresh pee splatter on someones hands seems worse that dried pee splatter. I guess there might be more of a chance that it gets transferred to the remaining cookies a little easier.

Toilets are capable of throwing a spray of feces and urine over 20 feet in the air. The larger chunks don't make it far, but a fine mist generally coats the entire bathroom. Chances are it is still hanging in the air when they open the door and settles on the cookies.

This is the main reason why you shouldn't keep your toothbrush in a cup on your sink.

Enjoy the rest of your day. 😉

Urine is sterile (I think it has amonia in it) so fresh pee shouldn't concern you. Fresh scat on the other hand can make nuclear neddy quite sick. My advice? Don't eat the chocolate chips, stick to sugar cookies 🙂

unless the suga cookies happen to have special choclate chip cookies in them. I'd say stick with the magic brownies

I say no. Aside from any fecality issues... if you put them near an area everyone goes, it's likely more people will touch them without taking one. If you put them in some obscure location, people will have to go there actively to get a cookie. They are less likely to touch them without taking.

Now on to the fecality issues. Is there anti bacterial soap in the restrooms? If not then it's an easy answer - note that people have to touch a few doors with gobs of bacteria before they'll likely take a cookie, since no one is going to take a cookie WITH them into the bathroom. If there is, you have to weigh the bonus of people potentially being bacteria free against everything.

This may be the first time I actually agree with something you've said. 😉

Your opinions on Hudson Hawk still remain rather dubious, however. 😛
