My fiancee and I share the cooking. Since we don't see each other much during the week (conflicting work & school schedules) we share the cooking duties (ie. she'll make the spaghetti and sauce while I make the bread). It's nice...I like it almost as much as sitting down and eating what we've prepared. :)

9 days and counting.

I cook. I made an excellent london broil on Monday. I figured that with 2 lbs of meat, we would have leftovers, but it was so good I couldn't stop eating it

My wife doesn't cook much, I do most of it.

Omlets with italian sausage, cheddar & provalone cheese and home made toast for the kids breakfast this morning.

Supper was meatloaf, corn & focaccia bread with italian seasoning on 1/2, crushed red pepper on the other 1/2

I cheat with a breadmaker, it's just too convenient, on my 3rd one now.

Newest favorite site: Breadworld I need to try out a few recipies from there...

My new Zojirushi fuzzy logic rice cooker should show up soon, either today or tomorrow. Am looking forward to making brown rice with it.

Men who cook and can work with wood have very satisfied women (and I don't mean food and furniture) :D

My wife freaked out when we were dating, she was alone in my house & was making a list of what she needed to make cookies for a grocery store run, she told me I was the only guy she ever dated that had every ingredient she needed on hand:D

My wife does most of the cooking but I do cook about once a week and on holidays. Oh, and I am a much better cook than she is, although she does cook well enough.

My wife cooks. When I first met her, she only knew how to made a few things, but has gotten progressively better and I prefer her food now, it is that good.

I do 99% of the cooking in my house. My fiance loves it.

Those things are money, I use mine at least 4 times a week.

I cooked in my share of restaurants while in college and I've retained most of my skills. Unfortunately, I get home around 7:30PM every night so I don't really cook on a regular basis.

Would anyone *cough*Winr*cough* be kind enough to PM me their recipes for alfredo and/or pie crust?

This should work. I don't have my recipe handy. Still in a box somewhere :D

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
2/3 cup solid vegetable shortening, frozen, then cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1/2 cup (1 stick) chilled unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
6 tablespoons (or more) ice water
2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar

Don't balk at the vinegar. The acid retards the formation of gluten, which is a good thing. You won't taste it.

The technique is the thing.

Everything ought to go into the fridge (flour included) to chill

Use a food processor or pastry cutter and just mix till it forms pea size chunks. Pieces of butter or shortning in the final product are just fine.

After mixing, chill again before rolling out.

People will admire you for miles around :D

Thanks!

I was an outstanding cook before I got married but now my wife does all the cooking. I fix food for the kids when she is out but that is not very often.

Since I was the oldest I took an interest in cooking primarily because I wanted to eat and because my Mom is a good cook so I was used to eating good food.

Anyway, my wife doesn't cook. I do. How about the rest of you?

Edited: added an option for CheapArse.

This is interesting. I was the oldest of 6 kids and both of my parents worked so I learned to cook early and I think all men should learn to cook.

That is funny...I am the second youngest of 7, and I had to do all the cooking!! :p

I was the oldest of four and had to do all the cooking as a kid. From age 11 'til I joined the Navy I cooked all the meals except on Sunday. Mom cooked that day.

Love to cook, especially when my wife and I cook together. She tends to do more of the cooking and I do more of the cleaning (while she cooks) so we have a spotless kitchen with a great meal afterwards.

I never cooked growing up; the women shooed the men out of the kitchen. In college I ate school food and meals at the sorority house (I was a house boy - great food and dates, dates, dates) and fraternity house.

Once out I had a live-in girlfriend who made mostly country food with lots of butter and always with some sort of bread. After her, I picked up basic cooking to keep from starving and less expensive than take-out. Now I am going to a cooking school at night.

I get to throw my Fettucini Alfredo into the ring. I make my own noodles (fennel and basil flavored) and my sauce adds lemon to it. And it doesn't curdle. I had this recipe before taking the classes.

I make the best Fetuccini that anyone I know has ever eaten.

Two bad it probably dooms everyone to stroke....it's THAT good.....and has THAT much butter and creme etc....

I challenge you to a duel of the Alfredo sauces then! I submit that mine is the best.

YOU'RE ON!

BTW, I should warn you; my FET takes 1 DAY to PREPARE.....:Q

Yep. I can do some pretty decent stuff if I need to, though most of the time the only cooking I do is hamburgers on the Foreman Grill. My wife handles most of the cooking because she's a wonderful cook, though. The same goes for her mother. Between those two, I've gone up a couple of pants sizes..... ;)
