idNut -

Simple one. We didn't evolve from monkeys. No biologist or anthropologist would ever say we did.

Apes on the other hand we do have a close common ancestor with. Perhaps as recently as 6-7 million years ago.

Why is my grandfather still around even though I am?
Why is my second cousin still around even though I am?

None. Evolution is unquestionably true.

Uh huh... Step away from the Science-As-Religion nut.

Please - if Science needs faith, then it is only equally valid as Religion.

If a ball drops due to gravity, then there is no question it has happened.

Until someone finds all the missing links, then believing in evolution requires "faith".
Until someone dies and goes to God, then religion requires "faith".

Frankly, both or neither should be taught in schools, as they are equally valid. And this is coming from someone who has taken AP Biology, and generally understands the facts at hand.

That's why I voted no. I have no "belief" or "faith" in evolution, I have those through religion.

Anyone who answered yes to a "belief" in evolution is simply using Science as a religion.

I have no respect for your kind of people either. It doesn't matter what they believe in.

If we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?

Or in other words, "evolution is complete crap, although I don't know or understand even the basics of it.". And you call atheists fvcking morons...

Oh, I would say it is.
No peer reviewed journal has ever published an article counter to it.

Well people who truely think that one way of us coming about is true, pretty much get stuck in their idea and it becomes almost impossible to make them sway(some die for their beliefs, that's proof enough). Most feel offended when a counter belief is presented so if a peer journal or anyone for that matter presented a counter belief, they would most likely be attacked for it no matter how credible their story is. It's hard to argue with science and I'm sure there aren't many people who feel like taking on a battle as big as evolution. I find it quite odd that someone would blindly believe that evolution is the way we came about simply because nobody has a counter artical though. I feel that there are plenty of un explained events in evolution that make believing in a higher power just as believable. The very early stages of evolution are what stand out to me, cellular growth, adaptation and whatnot is very credible because we see new strands of the flu almost every year. The rest gets iffy, I'm not a evolution buff but from what I learned of it in highschool, there are to many randome morphing events that are suppose to explain HUGE difference's between man and ape, and between other animal's as well. For the most part I dont dont feel convinced anyone knows the full story.

Slow down.
Lets take each of your points:
"I find it quite odd that someone would blindly believe that evolution is the way we came about simply because nobody has a counter artical though."
No one blindly believes it. It has years and years of refinemnt and evidence supporting it.
So much so, that no one has even challenged it in the last 50 or so years.

You next point:
"I feel that there are plenty of un explained events in evolution that make believing in a higher power just as believable."
You are sort of suggesting that these are mutually exclusive.
We discussed thsi in an earlier thread. Only a few fringe CHristinas reject Evolution. So, most Christians, believe in God and Evolution.

Ever since man ate of the banana tree, he has known.

Mostly though I believe it because the devil told me to. He said it's our way to take over the world. He said the tablet that had the evolution part got dropped and one of the Old Dudes didn't like it anyway so they told the scribes to leave that part out. It was the devil that broke the tablet so it would get left out and the Old Dude was one of his plants, so that years later, when people figured out what happened and read the Bible they'd go, see, the Bible is wrong so there's no God. He's a tricky devil. :D

Either that or likes to force their shiz down other people's throats. :) I'm coming out of that, now.

You need to relax before you turn into an even bigger nut job. This is just a silly internet message board.

Is cursing at people because you're a moron the Christian thing to do? You'd better go pray before your god hits you with a lightning bolt.

I think it's best if you don't read these threads - you seem unstable. Come back when you're a little older and maybe you can sit at the big-boy's table.

RELAX.

I believe in evolotion to a certain point, and I'm also christian(raised that way). I am most certainly not close minded enough to disregard evolution, I've always thought there was plenty of truth behind some of it and I've never had any disrespect for the idea. But evolution seems to stem away from the scientific explinations at some points and then tries to convince you that life is amazing and that's why a certain event happened. Those explinations are the one's that make some people discredit the whole idea. Insted of letting the world know that scientists could only peice together our past to a certain point, scientists decided to speculate. The speculations is where I tend to draw the line, SOME of the speculations seem completely* logical but alot of them dont.

Pure Fund A Mental Case Rhetoric.

It's called the "Theory of Evolution", not the "Bible of Evolution". Do not worship it as a faith, simply understand it's a theory that has yet to be conclusively proven for good.

i don't have to provide proof to show why i believe it though, do people have to provide proof to show why they believe in gravity?

You do not understand what that means.
You need to read soemthing by Richard Dawkins or Stephen Gould.
Or at least the Scientific American article.
The "Theory" has been proven.

is pure Fundamentalist Rhetoric. Nobody worships Evolution and nobody is using Science as a religion, at least not in this thread.

Evolve for me, I dare you.

Can't?

Find another planet similar to earth, and start or show evolution there.

Can't?

Those two would be proofs. Otherwise, it's just a theory.

As for books written by heretics and/or atheists, they are simply invalid.

Sorry, the Bible is a good story book, but Darwin was right.

Hmm... believeing the word of a mortal over the word of God? That seems alot like an alternate "faith".
