I see the Greenpeace propaganda is working.

And I can see American consumerism has decayed your brain into thinking your excesses have no environmental impact. You reap what you sow.

While I think it is mostly due to natural causes I do think that we are helping the effects. I DO think we should try our best to clean up pollution that we cause the best we can I think it is inevitable that things are going to heat up.

I can't believe that you bought into the notion that us puny humans (an earth population which could all fit in the state of Texas and own an acre each) could have such devasting effects on such a large mass. This is what I like to call the "self-esteem" syndrome. You have been babied and nurtured to have such great self-esteem that you think that you (humans) are greater or have a greater impact on things than anything else, including natural environmental cycles.

I think that, since it may be due to man-made emissions, we should be smart about it and learn to do things cleanly and efficiently just in case.

Yes, that's right, we must live or lives in fear.

Fear?

It doesen't have anything to do with fear.

It's our damn home. We aren't going to be leaving anytime soon. How can you argue with the logic that we need to at least TRY and keep it clean?

I didn't argue that we should not keep things clean. It's the "just in case" part of the statement that implies doing it out of fear.

What?

6 billion people can fit in a place the size of Texas, and each have an acre?

Man, give me some of what you're smoking.

1 square mile = 640 acres

Texas land mass: 267,277 square miles, including water

Texas total acreage: 171,057,280

Conclusion: You are wrong.

Sometimes I think a lot of issues we face today are blown out of proportion due to the fact that technology and other progress have suddenly allowed us to be aware of something we had previously been unable to see/monitor. Sudden awareness of a much broader situation in itself can be startling and disturbing even if everything in the broader situation is just running its normal course.

Space debris is one example. How many times in the last few years have we seen headlines about an asteroid on a possible collision course with earth? Yet we probably rarely saw any headlines for specific asteroid collisions in the years and decades before that - because we didn't have the technology to track these things very well - still don't actually, but we're MUCH more aware and better able to track these things than we were 10+ years ago. Cancer is another one. I see headlines citing statistics all the time pointing to how various cancer rates are rising exponentially and there's undoubtedly factors having to do with modern chemicals and their effects on our lifestyles. But at the same time, I can't help but wonder how many of these cases have always been at relatively the same rate yet had gone unnoticed due to being misdiagnosed in the past because we didn't have the technology and knowledge to be aware of what was really going on. When it comes to cancer, doctors talk all the time about how they wish they knew then what they know now because it might have been able to save someone's life.

I can't help but think that the issue of global warming is similar. In the grand scheme of the earth's lifecycle we've only been aware of this issue for the equivalent of about 1 second yet we're suddenly trying to extrapolate what the effects for the next 2,000,000,000 years will be. I don't think any sane person wants to see pollution increased, but I don't want play Chicken Little either each time we become aware of something 'new.' Personally, I think mankind's technological advances will outpace and eventually obviate the effects of any current pollution's negative effects on our environment.

oops, Looks like I have been pwned

Looks like I added an extra 0 in the mile to acres relationship.

The rest of my argument stands.

Astronomers have confirmed that the other planets in the solar system as far out as Neptune are also heating up. If the other planets are, there is a good chance that we are too, probably just not for the reasons everyone thinks, although those reasons (natural cycle, greenhouse gasses, etc.) may be contributing to it.

Nononono, those other planets are heating up because the Great Satan, America, is polluting their atmosphere, killing its animals for fur, dumping styrofoam Big Mac containers, and drilling for oil on those planets! You've just been brainwashed by the propaganda. Down with capitalism!

global warming is threatening our life, scientists already told us and warned us about it....
well.. but the average room temperature climbed up very slowly... but it does shown a inclined curve
