I locked them before I got the auto lockers installed so now its just automatic.

My belt is not automatic so when I reach for the belt, I click the lock at the same time.

My drivers ed teacher 9 years back said a locked door offers *some* protection against side impacts. Don't ask me how or why... but why not eh ?

hmm... i rarely lock my doors and they've never swung open on me while i'm driving

Why the hell wouldn't you lock your doors? It's like not wearing a seat belt. The device is there, why not use it?

Officer : "What happened sir?"
Lifer : "It was the damndest thing. I was just sitting at a stop light and this guy ran up to my door and just opened it. He then proceeded to yank me out of my car since I don't wear my seatbelt either and just drove off. I don't know how it could have happened!"
Officer : "So you were driving an unlocked car WITHOUT a seatbelt on?"
Lifer : "Correct."
Officer : "Ok. Well here's a ticket for your seat belt and here's a kick in the balls for being a dumbass. Have a great day."

I remember reading somewhere that locked doors are less likely to fly open in case of an accident.

Yeah because carjackers never have guns. And we all know that door locks stop guns. There's no reason to drive around with your doors locked unless you're paranoid of a car jacking. Which I'm not, so I don't.

i know someone personally that was pulled from their car... I always lock my doors when im driving alone.

I never lock them, and I hate cars that lock the doors automatically--had mine reprogrammed not to do that.
