Haha this is weird... I was reading the forums tonight and I had a hacky sack in my hand.... Anyways, yeah it's pretty popular at my school. Whenever someone has one, people will gather around and start playing. We actually have a couple of ways of playing... first, there is peg... basically once there are three exchanges of the hacky, whoever misses it can run (or stay if they feel like it) and then whoever is closest picks up the hacky and trys to peg them with it, if they get too far away they're fine and they can come back. You can also be hit if the hack manages to go through your legs. Another way we play is that you try to get every person to hit the hacky at least once, and then that is one hack. The third way is each person gets to hacky individually and whoever gets to 21 hacks first (once you miss, you just keep the number you got and let the next person go until it's your turn again and then you add on to your previous amount) and catches it on the 21st hack wins. There are rules like you can't land on 5,10,15, or 20 or you have to go back to 0 or if you don't catch the 21st hack you have to go back to 0. What are some of the games you guys play?
EDIT: Oh, I live in Orange County, California. >>
yea, our school is pretty casual about the missing through the legs and missing totally after 3 hits, so we dont really peg too much. the only time we peg is if you catch it out of the air when playing normal hack... you gotta take the peg though, you cant try and run off... you got to turn around and get whapped in the back.
umm we play a variation of your "21" game. we call it around the world ... in which its sort of the same. what you do is go around the circle, one at a time. the first person kicks it once, the second person has to kick it twice, and so on. you have 2 tries to get your number of hits, like if you have to get 12 but only get 7 before dropping it, you still have one more chance to get the other 5. how you get out is as follows:
you have to get 11, but only get a total of 9 in the 2 tries
it is then the next persons turn; they now have to get 11 to get you out.. if they do get it, then you are out.. if they dont then it moves to the next person.
you can only get out one person before you, so its not like a cumulative # of people you get out.
another game, which i am suprised youve never heard of is kill. there are many variations to this, depending on skill level
variation one: kick -kill
hack is served like normal but as soon as it is kicked 2(you can vary this number) times, the object is to kick it at someone so they get hit.
you can hit people anywhere, except the foot, and they are counted as out (that way you can use feet to block).
for them to stay in: lets say it hits them in the arm. if they can recover and hit the hack once with their foot, then they stay in.
variation two: slap -kill
this is the same as kick kill except instead of kicking it at people you slap it with your hand.
personally i like kick-kill better, jut caus eit takes more skill
aight theres my games
