I've got Direct TV on mine and love it. Good picture and sound. The channel changes slow though but I got use to it.

Also, when you move, I believe you can take the dishes with you so you don't have to change survices and things like that...

Based on the givens of the poll $60.00 gets me everything on Digital Cable or $60.00 of DirecTV I have to go cable cause it costs around $90.00 to get everything on DirectTV. Having said that I am still on DirecTV though :). If that price is accurate I may have to look into Digital Cable.

As stated earlier in this thread, it depends on what kind of receiver you're using. I had to buy a new receiver a few months ago because my old one (1st generation) got fried by lightning; I immediately noticed a vast improvement in speed. If speed is an issue, get a newer (or better) receiver.

I tried digital cable first, and I was not impressed with the picture quality. I kept seeing pixelization on scenes that had a lot of on-screen action (noteably explosions). The cable guy came out and tested the signal, and it was well above acceptable levels. I couldn't see spending $80/month (platinum package) on it anymore after that.

I now have DirecTV and I am thoroughly impressed with it, compared to digital cable. Great picture quality, provided it's not snowing outside. I have an "el cheapo" Hughes receiver right now, but I am planning on getting a top of the line Sony receiver with built-in TiVo or whatever they use. Then I'll have Dolby Digital 5.1 and HDTV capability... woo hoo! :)

go with digital cable. Just because you will get the high speed internet as well. Dish network I think offers internet, but of course there are lag issues.

I have satellite just because I cannot get cable where I live. I am happy with it, it only goes out during very heavy rains, the picture quality is good and there are plenty of channels (which all suck anyway).
