My parents never bought me a car and they never would. I like my car but I paid for it myself so I guess that has something to do with it too. :)

Yes in 2000 they got me an 81 Z28 camaro for a little over 2k. I've since sold it and purchased my own newer car. I sure do miss the power of that car though.

I wish.

I worked several months saving up $1,800 and bought a 1985 Isuzu I-Mark, I loved that car!

nope. However I could drive the car to school if my parents didn't need it at the time (ie: dad was out of town for business or mom didnt' have work that day).

Hell I work now in the summer, and I still dont' have a car of my own (nor do I want one..even tho I can afford a $2000 car). I drop my mom off in the morning...and then go home to sleep (i work nights). Then I drop the car off at her work later on in the day, and walk to work. And I get a ride home from friends or parents.

Well, I had my own 1978 Dodge Colt wagon (mini wagon... thing...) that my grandfather gave to me when he bought a new van. My mom bought a truck and I drove it after my car simply died of old age. Later, when I said I would be taking the city bus because I could not afford the 5-7mpg the 360 V8 was sucking up, she got all offended and pissed off. She ranted and raved that she bought the truck for me, which she never told me and which I didn't start driving until my senior year in HS, and that I was an ungreatful little sh|t.

Even though I worked to put myself through private school, paid for gas, and insurance on the truck like it was my own. I took care of it, including all maintenance that I knew how to do on my own.

Parents can kiss my ass.

of course,
i had a 2001 focus 4 door (lease)
then 2002 taurus (lease again)
and then finally they bought me a 96 talon TSi AWD 5 speed (i love my lil rally car:) )

...i have to pay gas/insurance/maintenance on the last one, the other ones had it covered by the terms of the lease

EDIT: Getting a car in my area is pretty much a standard around here - no public transporatation and everythign is distant. I could live without a car in ann arbor though, thats a different story :)

nope, didn't buy me a new car, but I drove the old "beater" (wasn't that bad) to school, since HSers can't drive worth sh*t, and drove their cars at night...I've gotten everything I've ever wanted tho, pretty much, so it's all good. :)

I had a bicycle .. 10 speed that is.. no car.. though i could have driven it illegally if needed. I took it to school twice if I remember right (parents out of station).

I had a moped though.. but i could pedal faster than that 2 wheeled engined vehicle.

Where's the 50/50 option? They only paid for half.

well they didnt technically buy me one, i got hand me downs :p I drove my dad's 93 dodge intrepid when it was 8 years old, then somebody ran into the back of it, so we did the car shuffle, and I got my sister's old Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (also about 7 years old when I got it). Now I'm in college, and yesterday we did the car shuffle again - my mom got a new Chrysler Pacifica, so my dad took her old 2001 Dodge Intrepid and I got the 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue - finally getting rid of my old piece of junk Cutlass :) Yep I'm spoiled. Paid for my insurance too, and the maintence

Nope. Just graduated. Still don't have my own car, but I have a car I can use. Throughout high school I didn't have one. Drove maybe twice to school related things. Once when my mom was sick. The other was to prom.
