I wouldn't. You know how many hardware issues you'd probably have? heh.

And no, I didn't pay for my copy of XP. Microsoft gave it to me at a convention, along w/ visual studio :)

That's odd.. mention you download movies or mp3's, and there are tons of members who jump down your throat... but those people are conspicuously absent this thread..

Me: I paid: hence my reluctance to upgrade to WinXP... is it really worth the $$ to go from 98 to XP?
(which would mean also getting a new sound card)
My answer to that question: Nope... not to me.
Plus, newer viruses will probably exploit XP more than 98.

I bought XP Pro through my school. I bought Win 2000 upgrade for $150. Other OSes either came with the computer or they are Linux.

Paid a lot for my Windows 2000 but got Win95 OSR2 free, before it was even for sale. I met a guy online who FTP'd it to me (without the frills) one CAB at a time. Very cool.

My laptop came with legit XP Pro. My desktops use a dodgy version, but I *could* get a legit version from MSDNAA but I can't be bothered as it'll be the same thing anyway! Maybe I should just use their CD-Key instead. ;)
