I'll probably have to take Vicodin after my upcoming neck surgery, and since being sick and having a newly operated neck is the worst thing I can think of, it made me kinda nervous when some people told me it made them sick when taking it.

What's the balance?

some people will feel like they want to throw up...

good for people prone to drug addictions.

as for me, i don't get sick and i love taking vicodins to get high, my supply ran out two years ago, i kept one pill in the bottle to prove that i'm not addicted to it.

when i get my tooth implant, i might start again.

Have you ever had a negative reation to over-the-counter cough syrup containing DXM? If so, start easy on the codeine. If not, enjoy!

I took it after I had wisdom teeth removed. During the beginning, it made me feel really good, then it just wore off the longer I took it. It didn't make me feel sick at all. If you have a bad reaction, I'm sure the doctor can give you Tylenol w/Codeine or something else.

Never had a problem with Vicodin...

I would think you would be taking something stronger than Vicodin for neck surgery. ::shrung:: If they make you sick, your doc will give you something else.

Better living thru chemisty:thumbsup:

Nope, they've said vicodin or percocet.

I believe vicodin is a combination of a narcotic (hydrocodone/codeine) and a non-narcotic (acetaminophen/tylenol)

its hydrocodone/acetaminophen.

With the prescribed dose I never had any problems. My stomauch gets messed up if I tripple it.

I don't know. All I know is that I've taken both in the past and Tylenol w/codeine seems more potent than Vicodin. I think the most potent one is Oxycontin. I've heard it's essentially synthetic morphine.

As long as you don't take it with orange juice and then try to walk around alot you should be ok....at least that's the way it is for me. Then again with all the pain meds I've taken I'm a walking narcotics lab at this point so when I die they can harvest my blood and sell it on the black market as the ultimate high so your mileage may vary.

<creepy voice>beware the orange juice and vicodin cocktail</creepy voice>

Vicodin makes me feel really funky, but doesn't make me sick. Percocet, on the other hand, doesn't make me feel like anything in particular, but it does make me have really strange dreams. (I dreamt that I was two people simultaneously, which was really odd when we were looking at each other...)

Eh, everytime I've been prescribed vicoden or percocet, I've never really needed it that much. I think took one dose of each and ended up not using anymore of it.

They do have different strength... and also, whatever you ate or is still in your system can affect you to a certain degree.

I like to take them without any food to get the best "high", not recommanded for people prone to get sick from opiate derived meds.

a hard core drug user could cook it and inject it like heroin. and get instant high.

Nope, never made me feel nauseous, but it is starting to make me itch all over on the rare occasions that I take it. Since I only take it when I need to sleep, I skip it because the itching makes it harder to sleep than whatever pain I might be having.
