I have the MX300 and running on FSB of 133mhz at divider 1/4. Most of the time the sound card does not work. While at 100FSB at divider 1/3 it worked fine. Both of these are running at 33mhz PCI bus.

Does anyone have this combo running? Did you have to make any special settings?

Can someone please tell me their PCI latency on the mb that you have the MX300 on?

Thanks.

My MX300 works great on my P3V4X mobo with a P3-650E running on a 133mhz fsb (pci bus is at spec 33mhz). PCI latency is at the default...32 I think. Try a different slot and don't allow it to share in irq with anything.

I tried moving it to another PCI slot. Did not solve the problem. I also had PCI latency 32 but I changed it to 100.

I have this in my System Information

IRQ 10 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI Steering
IRQ 10 VortexAU8830 PCI Audio
IRQ 10 VortexAU8830 Multifunction PCI Platform.

Is this okay? What the hell is ACPI IRQ Holder and how do I make it so it does not share IRQ10 with my sound card?

Thanks.

Mine works fine up to 133fsb. Different board, but the abit's can be a pain about sharing resources...

Coki, your irq 10 listings are identical to mine. Don't worry about the acpi steering item. As long as nothing else is on irq 10 (like a network card), you should be fine.

Are you sure you've got the volume up high enough? :) Seriously, perhaps you need to download a fresh copy of the Aureal reference drivers (don't rely on your current zip archive and don't use Diamond's poopy MX 300 drivers).

Yeah the volume is good. Sometimes when I enter windows instead of entering windows sound I get horrible noise and cracking sounds and no music can be played and the joystick does not work.

Then after a couple of reboots the sound card works fine. Sometimes the card works the 1st time I boot.

This strange occurance is bugging me.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
