<< BTW, those figures for the Kingsnake just make the Lingenfelter look like that much of a performance bargain. It's also just as fast. >>

I'm sorry - but $112k is'n a bargain. Even in comparison to the King Snake. If you have that kind of money to spend on a car, $35k isn't gonna be much at all.

One more thing:

<< The Viper may outrun the Corvette to 100mph, but after that...the Corvette kicks waay more ass. Looks better too, IMO. >>

I dunno about you - but I don't drive above 100 too often...

I'll take the Vette anyday. The Viper just doesn't have it. Not looks, not performance, did I mention the looks sucked? Don'y get me wrong, the Viper is a fine car - I you only drive straight!!!! :)

Vette, definitely. It is a more advanced car, technologically speaking. Also, the Viper looks like a shoe, if you'll all remember that thread.

Yeah. Viper looks like a shoe. Gimme a Vette anyday, and i'll take the 24 mpg highway (or somewhere around there) to go with it.

Viper, but as others have stated, if I want class, I'll get a Mercedes, if I want sports car fun, I'll get a Porsche. North American car companies are about equal with Korean companies, when compared to European companies.

Neither one. I will take my supercharged '01 SS Z28 anyday for $35,000 less and still wipe the street with both of them.

vortech 12psi blower runs about $3500 depending on customized pulleys, added to the $26,600 base sticker price makes it $30,100 which equaks 475hp and gets me high 11's 1/4 with BFG DR tires. Why spend $35000 more for less power?

Genocide,

35K isn't chump change. Ask anyone...even millionaires fret over 35K when it comes time to pay taxes.

Why are you in this thread? This is the battle of the supercars! Cars that were built for speed!

NFS4,

Screw the ViperGTS. All it is, is just a Viper that is more pleasing to the wind:D

All,

I too would much rather have a 911 Turbo. However, this is the battle of America's greatest street legal supercars. Anyways...911 Turbo...BAH! Give me a Ferrari 355(cause you can't buy a 360 Modena used for the same price as a 911 Turbo). I looove Italian cars.

Cablegod,

Yea...you could do that. But why would you want to do that? The ZR-1 and Viper were meant to go faster than the Camaro. Putting a blower and NOS on a Camaro to go as fast as a ZR-1...well you better have damn good luck and full-coverage insurance.

Sandorski,

For sports car fun...We all know the Corvette Z06 and Viper GTS are SUCH boring cars. SNOOOZE! *BUZZ* WRONG! For $50K and 78K, I've got cars that accelerate just as fast, have the potential to go faster, and sleepers compared to the likes of your Porsches, and Ferrari's. However..I'd much rather have a Porsche or Ferrari. I'm just sayin, America makes kick ass sports cars.

Saying America is like Hyundai compared to the European companies is just plain cruel. However, last I checked I liked the Hyundai Sonata way more than the Chevy Lumina. As for build quality...the Viper and Corvette are the pride and joy of the American Automative makers. They are built to last. That's the advantage of having a basic and dull engine like the Viper. As for the Chevy...even though the LT-5 was Lotus engineered...the Corvette ZR-1 is still a Chevy. Meaning, parts are bountiful. Since GM is known for borrowing parts from here and there...it's all good, baby.

As for comfort...why bother with sports car fun and get a porsche? They are the Mercedes of the Sports car makers. If comfort means nothing to you, why not get a Lotus Elise? OH...to rough for ya? Then don't bother with any Renault Sport Spider, and Panoz Roadster.

Edit: You don't think the

Paul Ultima GTR is known for it's comfort do ya? Nope...rather it's known as one of the most kick ass supercars ever! Well not ever...but it'll whip that Porsche 911 around, slap it and call it it's Bitch all for relatively the same price as a 911 Turbo

Luck has nothing to do with it my friend. When you've been a died-in-the-wool street racer for quite a while, you pick up a few tricks. I would never put a bottle in my car.It is fun to wipe the streets with the local "business suits" and their brand new $50k vette's. The look on their face is well worth the little cash for the blower.

I'll tell you this: I had a '92 C4 with only 300 ponies (sold it just before my son was born last year) and man did I love that car. Wouldn't let my wife eat in it. Wouldn't let her drive it. I can only imagine what a ZR-1 would be like. A friend of mine is looking to get one now. I can hardly wait to drive one.

BTW, 100 was nothing in it. I regularly did 100 without giving it a second thought. It was a s**itload of fun to drive in the twisties too :D

My next sports car will be a C5. Trouble is, I'll get nailed one day with a huge speeding ticket the way I drive.

I got an unbelievable 31mpg with windows up and no air in my '92 C4. At 65mph, in OD, it ran ~1600 rpm.

How's that for economoy? Beats the h#*l out of my rice burning Maxima, LOL

Z28s and Firebirds can run low 13's straight out of the box. You don't need a blower and NOS to own a ZR-1. Throw about $2-3k into engine work into either of those cars or a GT/Cobra and you'll have an 11 second street car. A little suspension work and you'd have a car that would own a ZR1 or any car on the track.

I'd take the Viper over the Vette. I hate Chevy.

Well, im from Europe, and we about choke in European made cars (DUH) and for 'normal' day-to-day cars, id chose an american built car over one of them European/Japanese/Taiwanese cars any day w/o having to think about it twice.

Back to the sports cars. I never liked the vette, except for the old Corvette Stingray from what was it? 50's or 60's? I love the style of that car. New cars, that new V10 powered Viper makes me drewl though my dream car is and always will be the Porsche 911 Carrera 4.
