Would you guys EVER underclock your system so that you would be able to turn off some of the fans? I've disabled one of the 60mm fans on my Alpha and both fans on the two RDJD's on my V5 5500. Those 3 fans are mean little fans with as much noise they make. They're very effective though.

ANYWAYS, I can finally leave the headphones off and listen to my music the way it was supposed to be listened to at home. Lazily, that is. No more neck strains!

Not really. I have 2 sony 3 way 200Watt speaker system playing all my MP3's (soon to upgraded to 300Watt each [btw, sony speakers it self sucks, replace them if you have any]). :)

My system's not that loud. It has the retail fan, Case fan and the PS fan. So its fairly quite.

Dudes and dudettes...it's so eerily quite in here. I might disable the other Alpha fan...this silence is quite addicting! Instead of overclocking, maybe I should try and make the quietest computer! YEA! That's it!

Peace,

Of course I wouldn't under clock. I've got my power supply fan, 2 80mm fans, and a Golden Orb, and I really don't even notice the noise coming from the computer. I can understand if the fan a rattling or something, but to me a properly running fan doens't make an offensive noise of any kind.

I didn't know i make fans. They're high quality and quiet. If they're defected and makes noise like that or is too loud for you, you can send them to your local SAlVation army or blow your ears off.

When at home I can never sleep with the computer on because of the fans I put in it.

In a college dorm life scenario, however, they drown out more noise than they create. ;)

Dynamat...that would defeat the whole purpose of trying to keep my CPU cool. I'm interested if it'll quiet my computer though:p Would it totally defeat the purpose if you had blow holes as well as dynamat?

Bobtist,

Short story...not funny. Pretty boring. I'm sad. Maybe I can intrigue you. V5 was bought used. Could only do 173MHZ. Now it does 185MHZ stably. For $6.50/each, I'd say the heatsinks were damn worth it. I wish I had one of those PCI slots...

17.1CFM/fan....sweet:D

I've actually underclocked my system.

T-bird
Was:
700@950MHZ via 8.5x11

Now:
700@630MHZ via 7x90MHZ

V5 5500:
Was: 185MHZ
Now: 100MHZ

The only fans running in my system are my power supply fans. SCHWEET!
