Private - in public ones, you can't have shower sex 😛 Well, unless you're an exhibitionist, then it wouldn't really matter 😉

That's really gross. Out public bathrooms are always kept super clean. Also, we have the normal cleaning service on the weekend so i suppose that helps. Also, the fact that we are females may help too...

Well, I did live in Pritchard Hall... the largest all-male dorm on the East Coast.

That probably did change things around.

Public while I lived in the dorms and I got used to it.

No need to clean it yourself, mine were cleaned daily except Sundays

They were also coed (mixed blessing, imagine puking in one toilet while a girl is taking a dump in the stall next to you)

And who said you couldn't have sex in the shower in a shared bathroom? Mine had stalls🙂

from everything I've heard, speaking with my male and female RA friends, it seems that female bathrooms tend to be a lot more disgusting the male bathrooms. it defies logic, but all of my RA friends confirmed it.

our public bathrooms were never that bad... Monday through Friday, they got cleaned once a day, after the morning rush was over (11 am-ish). I usually tried to time my showers so that I'd get in the bathroom right after the janitor finished cleaning. I'd never go in without flip-flops, but that's just common sense... athlete's foot + I wouldn't want to walk back to my dorm room in my bare feet. I've seen way too many people slip on the floor and lose their grip on their towel 😉

No, not exactly. I have found that in dorms with private bathrooms, no one ever leaves their room except to enter and exit the building. In the dorms with public bathrooms, people were always walking the hallway at any hour. The most "fun" and social dorms I spent time in had public bathrooms.

That said, I prefer public for the same reasons as others - someone actually cleans it once in awhile. The dorm is more social.

The dorm I lived in my entire college career actually had a sink in the room which was about the best of both worlds.
