Here are a few issues that "Bible belters" feel have not been resolved in their favor.

Abortion, rights of the criminal, death penalty, creationism, gay marriages, immigrant rights, and gun control.

Yes, some of these issues go their way sometimes in some places. Other times they feel like they're taking it in the shorts. The fact that the country is evenly divided on these issues means that the "Bible belters" are just as uncomfortable as the "loose as a goose' crowd.
Whitling you are no fun, trying to apply logic to my sarcasm :) Don't make me force my beliefs down your throat! I lean towards conservative you know!

I can't think of any time during history when those items you mentioned were illegal in some way..but we managed to avoid civil war then didn't we?

Well, Alchemize. You have the last laugh. I always think that logic and facts will carry the day. I am consistently wrong in this assumption.

Yes, looks like War is brewing in the U.S. itself. Not sure which group or issue will start the guns firing first yet though.

Take a look out the window and then vote.

One can dream, can't they?

Ah yes. Death and misery. Truly something to be dreamt of. Idiot.

If the government were under the control of conservatives, we wouldn't be running a deficit of hundreds of billions per year. That's not to say there are no conservatives in Congress. They just aren't in control. (There is no evidence of any real conservatives in the White House.)

Even with the Judicial Branch being under the influence of the Conservatives their interpretations of the Constitution doesn't satisfy those on the Far right. Hmmm and now we are trying to institute Democracy in Iraq while at home our democracy is being assailed from all sides. Maybe we should consider gewtting our house in order forst before we start telling others what they should do.

actually the judicial branch does not seem to be under "conservitive control" and i do not "interpret" the constitution, i leave that to the liberals who use "interpretation" to change what is written very literally.

LOL!! this is what i get for answering a question honestly, but i came to the understanding a long time ago people such as yourself have to make judgements about people in order to feel better about themselves, if it works for you knock yourself out. liberals tend to be aimless without someone to hate and belittle and point thier finger at, then blame for thier own inadaqeucies.

You're quoting a guy that thinks the world is going to end over every single issue.

Hmmm. Maybe. After all, "later" is one hell of a long time. It will not, however, happen within the next 20 years. The question of whether there will be a civil war is a silly one. How will the victor enforce its values? You've got a population that pretty much can't tell you where Nebraska is. They're more worried about who's going to marry Joe Millionaire than separation of powers. I loved the entry about the government enforcing aetheism. Give me a break, why would the government care?

No, no revolution in the foreseeable future.

i actually hope your right there will not be one. i disagree the question is a silly one however. many people thought the idea hitler would come to power in germany was silly, then it happened...never say never. there are many...many people who feel that the federal government has way to much power, if i were alive in the late 18th century i definitely would not have been a federalist.

as far as many people not knowing where nebraska is or would rather watch TV, that is exactly the type of indolence that breeds the ingredients that encourage tyrrany, and not everyone is like that...in fact hundreds of thousands are not.

an interpretation of law forbidding the freedom of religious expression and an enforcement of it because it offends those from a different religious view is a direct violation of the 1st amendment. by forbidding religious expression of theists mainly at the behest of those with an opposing view the government has favored the religious view of atheism over theistic views. it has:

A. respected an established religious view(made it government policy)
B. restricted the freedom to exercise religion.

in fact many people want religion itself outlawed, i have seen calls for it on this very board. and when that day comes(which i believe will be in the next few decades the way things are going) then i can honestly and unashamedly say get ready for a fight. i loathe and detest the very idea of fighting against men wearing the same uniform i used to wear! however many of the founding fathers overcame that same difficulty, i would be fighting for the same things they did for the same reasons.

Actually, if it doesnt happen in the next 20 years, it never will. After that time, the weapons in the hands of authorities will be so advanced, that a single soldier can mow down a thousand in moments. No one is going to revolt against that.

i understand your point, and the same thing has been said by others 20 years ago, and 20 years before that, and 20 years before that...the ability to mow down hundreds if not thousands in moments has existed for almost 100 years. it has not stopped revolts and war, only made them bloodier.

These people I have seen and talked to at the Rallies, most of them do not even watch TV. The phrase they keep repeating is "The South Will Rise Again".

It's called infiltration and has already happened. A lot of people in for a rude awakening.

Robert A Heinlein, the SF author, predicted back in the 60's or 70's I think that the Christian Fundamentalists would at some point take over the government but that there would be a grassroot movement to oppose them. :p

DmCowen. OK, you say the government cares about introducing atheism and it's called infiltration. Man, beats me how one gets from atheism to ifiltration. But, to rise to the bait, it seems to me that society is dividing into two segments. Those who think that they know what everybody else in the world should be doing -- and are willing to shove it up their tushes if they don't comply and those who think that there's a lot of diversity in the world and I don't need to do anything about it if it doesn't affect me directly. Most of us atheist could care less what you believe as long as you leave us alone. The whole gay issue is nicely illustrative of this divide. There's the "keep 'em in the closet crowd" and the "I don't care, he ain't dating me crowd." Religion is another dividing point. It's not enough for twits like the Alabama justice to just leave religion out of the discussion. No, he's got his opinion and he wants everybody to know it. I tell you truly, the white men are leaving middle earth and that's not entirely bad. The centuries when we ran things aren't particularly lusterous spots in human history -- except for us, of course. We got rich.

They're in packed Churches all over the south and shopping in Wal-Mart. Don't think they'll appreciate you calling them Moron's either but as long as you leave them alone and don't tell them and force onto them that this is a Godless Country they'll leave you alone. Continue on this path and there will be a Crusades, Civil War, Revolution, whatever you want to call it in this Country.

It's good to know that when people who don't believe in the God of Abraham tell people who believe in the God of Abraham to keep their religion out of our government, it's the people who don't believe in the God of Abraham who should get killed. Why shouldn't the people who don't believe in Shiva get killed?

Yeah they will attack us with Squirrel Guns while they play the Dueling Banjos Theme from Deliverance in the background. I hear they are organizing a convoy of Pick Up Trucks as we speak with their Gun Racks loaded to the tilt and their bellies full of Moon Shine. They are scheduled to roll right after the Daytona 500.
