Poll: Catalyst or Omega?

I've done as much research as I could, and I've come to the conclusion that there really is no definite answer, so I'm just going to take a poll and go with majority 🙂

I have used both, and to honestly say, there is no noticable difference. I would go with catalyst because I trust ATI more then some guy. ATI probably also tests more for glitches also.

Dell hasn't released new drivers for my notebook since 2002 and ATI doesn't provide them for the Radeon Mobility so its Omega all the way.

I can actually play Halo at decent settings with my 1Ghz notebook with 64MB Radeon 7500 Mobility... Couldn't do that before getting away from Dell's drivers.

i installed the latest omega drivers when i first got my card, and the game GunBound would not load. I uninstalled them and installed the 4.1 catalyst drivers and it ran just fine. Dunno what the deal was with the omega drivers not liking GunBound.

I'm currently using the Omegas, and don't see any difference, aside from the icon on the advanced display tabs. Not to mention the other included programs don't do anything useful. I figure as soon as I find the max OC for my card, I'll go for the Catalyst 4.1.

Omega - I like the built-in overclocker. I've been running the Omega's based on the 3.7's for months now and have had zero problems with them. Yes, I said 3.7's. The way I see it, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. 😉

Omegas......People who say their is no diffrence are toking on the peace pipe. Play some cs 2xaa 4xaf with cats then load omegas.....The diffrence is rather drastic. No tears on the screen no mipmap lines drawing in the floor ext ext. Omegas rock for image quality if you simply looking for speed use Cats if your looking for pretty use omegas.

omega

integrated driver/control panel installation
integrated overclocking
integrated softmod for my 9500 np
tweaked settings that I am to lazy to learn myself

That's pretty much how I feel about Nvidia Forceware v Omega Forceware. I saw no visual improvement, and the NV drivers were actually a tad faster. Add to that that NV knows their hardware better, and I'm more inclined to trust them. I go with the official drivers.

I say Catalyst.

If you want to get rid of tearing lines and mipmap lines, try these little settings called "vsync" and "anisotropic filtering".

See what happens.

Oh, and for god's sake, go find a good game to play instead of CS.
