I said multiple because it's possible that a first conviction could be wrong, but being convicted more than once is unlikely, unless you committed at least one rape. The problem of course is that there are no other punishments in our society that mutilate the body, but the plus is that once you castrate somebody, they are not going to want to rape again.

I would say yes, but the case has to be stronger to castrate them than it would be just to convict them.

They might not rape again using their penises, but as I understand it, rape is a crime with much more than a sexual aspect to it. It's about power and control and humiliation as well. They can still "rape" someone even without the factory installed equipment.

I would say that castration would be a good start, though.

Often times serial rapists suffer from mental disorders which operate independantly of sexual desire, and may in fact initial sexual arousal. Castration has not been shown to significantly reduce repeat offences by serial rapists in the few areas where it has been done.

Cutting off genitals completely, yeah. But that's a little extreme.

And Shepherds we shall be
For thee, my Lord, for thee.
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand
Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls shall it ever be.
In Nomeni Patri Et Fili Spiritus Sancti.

Yes, and use the same method they use for bulls, the method without cutting.

From what I've heard from people who work in the prison system, repeat offenders are the absolute bottom of the barrel of society. By the time they see them, those people have pretty much no redeemable value.

Yes, but I'd imagine that without all that testosterone, they would be much less aggressive.

I think you misunderstand the crime of rape.

Not only that, but there is that little "cruel and unusual" thing to get around.

And you'd be wrong.

yup, if they can't do it with their wee-wee, they'll just find something else to use.

Look... if they get locked away twice for the same crime, it's obvious they aren't going to be helped. I *really* don't see the problem with exterminating them.

This would have little to no benefit for society (since, as noted above, it isn't an effective means of preventing rapists from reoffending), and would clearly constitute cruel and unusual punishment. No.

Life in prison then. Make this a "two strikes" crime. Though of course people will argue then that the serial rapist will become a murderer to protect himself.

Sometimes PreCrime is the only answer.

That's why I said multiples. Granted it's not perfect.

People say rape is about power, and it may be about power first, but there is a sexual element to it. I thought that it was well known that castrated individuals were less likely to rape? Don't some countries do it or something?

I think a lot of guys fear castration more than death, so it may be an effective deterent, but i would still have to say no.
