Poll: Can you dribble a basketball? Well?

I saw a "Can you dunk?" thread, so I wondered this as well.

So are your handles like the Nike Basketball commercial/And1 Mixtapes?

Or, do your teammates cringe when you start to dribble?

edit Woohoo! 1000 posts 😀

Is it just a lot of practice to get from "i look down when I dribble" to "i can dribble while sleeping"? I suppose ppl have to develop a feel for the ball and confidence on where it is going to go when dribbled.

I'm somewhere between

I can break your ankles (i.e. Nike Basketball commericals) and
Nothing flashy, but I can drive right and left

i'm like a 4.75 😛

definitely practice. practicing at home while forcing yourself to look up, makes it natural during the game.

i don't play basketball, and never have, yet can dribble suprisingly well. Like whenever i pick up a ball kids are always asking me things like "yo homes, you ball?" usually i have to think for a moment before i know what their talking about, but then have to tell them no.. i can't shoot worth sh*t....

I can but... wait! Well? NO.

I'm actually not that bad, but I do look down a lot.

i can drive with both hands, pass with both, and cross over with both. I cant do the behind the back wraparoudn with my left hand yet need to practice. I"m not AND 1 commercial worthy, but like, well thats just insane. I do know people who do that, but i dont really think that helps your game much.

I can dribble decently with my Right hand.

I'd say I'm about a 2.5 on your scale.

I can drilbble indefinately without looking standing.

I can move pretty well without looking, but I can't run full speed, and sometimes I lose it even just jogging.

Yea, I can dribble, but mostly just from my mouth while i'm trying to concentrate on not losing the basketball. I am the worst ball player ever.

One time I was at a raquetball club and was with a friend. Two guys came up and asked if we wanted to play a little two on two, so my friend, not knowing my mad b-ball skilz, tells them yep, and starts trash talking before we get on the court.

I embarrassed him thoroughly, and embarrassed myself even worse. I was knocking the other guys down to keep the ball. It was like a combination between a scene from Sunday night football and the Harlem Globetrotters with that kid who always got picked last playing star forward, rather than a game of two on two. I had never so much as touched a basketball, not ever, besides just dribbleing when I was a kid, enough to know how bad I sucked at it and never to try on the court.

After about five minutes of my courtside antics the guys were laughing at me so hard they had to forfeit the game if I recall correctly.

My friend was truly embarrassed for the both of us, and I was never again asked to play basketball, not that I ever cared to in the first place.
