Here's a fun fact about Bush's election run back in 2000.

Remember that Patient's Bill of Rights thing he talked so gushingly about that he got passed in Texas. Well guess what; he vetoed it and it passed over his veto. Just a fun fact.

And here's one thing that just happened in the House that is too telling to pass up. So, the house passed a bill yesterday for tax cuts for married people:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/04/28/marriage.penalty.ap/index.html

Now, the Republican version of the bill was passed (big surprise), which gives $105 billion in tax relief to married people over the next decade. The Dem version gave $206 billion over the next decade.

So, thats funny to begin with as Reps are typically for more tax relief. Let's look at why the Dem version was blocked:

The House voted 226-189 to reject a Democratic fix to the so-called marriage penalty. That version, expected to reduce taxes on some couples about $206 billion over the next decade, would have kept about 13 million couples from losing part or all of their tax cuts to the alternative minimum tax, a levy originally intended to keep wealthy individuals from sheltering their income but increasingly trapping middle-income families.

Democrats also proposed offsetting the cost of their tax cuts by imposing a 3.6 percent surtax on couples earning $1 million or more. Those couples would still pay less than they did before Bush's tax cuts, Democrats said.

So, instead of focusing relief on the middle class and fixing a tax problem, the Dem version was blocked mainly due to the fact of that 3.6% surtax on those making over 1 MILLION DOLLARS.

That's an example of the Republican party for you folks. Destined to increase the gap between the lower and upper class while removing the middle class entirely.

I'd vote for a real republican in this election...you know, if there was one running.

i dont know too much about either, but bush seems more honest and kerry just seems to be ambiguous on a lot of things. A president that is honest and solid on their beliefs seems to be most important to me.

Your joking right, Bush = Honest

Good one 🙂

I can only assume that you're referring to the Iraq situation. EVERYONE was lied to by our intelligence about the Iraq thing. Bush was just relaying what CIA/NSA/etc told him. Get over it.

Bush is as honest as any other president. He's as honest with the public as he needs to be. Thinking that Kerry would be any different is silly.

I think a person would very much *want* to believe that the president had 'no idea' the intelligence was bad, in order for them to actually believe it. Even if the intelligence was bad, it was sketchy at best to begin with. You don't go to war on sketchy. Unless you're totally inept.

So the way I see it, he's either a liar or inept. Either way, I could do without him.

...This really feels like it belongs in P&N already though.

If Mcain was running then I think he would win.
I wish he would run as Kerrys VP. That would be a awesome ticket.

Kerry... I just really hate Bush.

Bush really screwed the pooch with this whole war in Iraq.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't have gone in, thats a subject for debate and I won't jack this thread,

but he gave us lies/wrong reasons for going in, and wouldn't admit it until recently. And he started the war, not congress. Thats not cool.

Wow, the anti-Bush reason seems to have quite a lead.

I didn't like Bush because of his environmental policies. I find it difficult that with a large number of advisors to help him, speech writers, etc., he had difficulty mastering how to pronounce nuclear.
It's not nuc-u-lar! That just made him seem pretty ignorant to me.

Hmmm....Medal of Honor winner or draft dodging* coke head. Politician who sees which way the wind is blowing or someone who doesn't care about anyone else except for what he wants. Tough call.

*Yes, I called him a draft dodger. A rich guy joining the reserves is like a poor person going to canada.
