Poll: Brains, Beauty, or Money.

Imported

If you're significant other, or someone of the opposite sex, could only have one, what would you want it to be? For example, a woman that's extremely beautiful, but dumb and poor; a man that's extremely wealthy, but ugly, and dumb; or a woman that's extremely smart, but poor and ugly. You get the idea. Doing this poll for a friend in statistics.

I'd have to say my ranking of traits would have to be

1)personality/compatiblity
2)brains
3)beauty

and a very distant last
4) money

Money and beauty are fleeting, someone you can love with all your heart always and forever lasts a lifetime.

How permanant is this significant other.
And how extreme are the traits?
I mean is ugly, like REaLLY REALLY nasty booootay?
Tough choice,
take the pretty girl, and have smart friends.
🙂

I can say from experience. Marry money.

I married a woman with as much money as I had. Which at the time was nothing.

Seriously though Brains is the way to go.

Brains.

- Don't matter how pretty she is, if I can't talk with her...It's no good.
- I make enough money that I could solely support myself and my own family (when that time comes), therefore whether she had money or not doesn't matter.

I'll put specifications on the qualities here..

Money: Filthy rich, say around $100,000,000.
Brains: Genius IQ, whatever that may be. Knows alot about the world, society, math, english, etc. Someone that you'd be able to talk to.
Beauty: Someone who is absolutely gorgeous, someone you couldn't get tired of looking at.

Poor: Basically zilch, nada, nothing.
Dumb: Wouldn't know the difference between being slapped or getting shot. Absolutely stupid, etc.
Beauty: Someone who just is ugly, someone you wouldn't be able to look at for a long time, etc.

Brains are the most important for me. I don't want a man I have to compete with for the mirror, or tie his shoes for him because he is too stupid to figure out how to on his own. Money is not even on the list for me. 😉

Hmmm, tough call. I've dated a number guys who boasted one but none of the other qualities (beauty without brains or money, money without brains or beauty, brains without beauty or money), and none of the relationships worked out. Luckily, the guy I'm with right now has 2 of the above (and is working on the "money" one 🙂 ). At this point in my life, I'd have to pick:

1. Beauty
2. Brains
3. Money

This might sound cruel, but it's true: if you can't stand looking at a person, it won't matter how much money or intelligence he has. Physical attractiveness has always been valued much more by our society than either brains or money... for proof, just turn on the television.

EDIT FOR SCRAPSTER: I'm not going to change my original post, but I *am* going to point out that I *obviously* don't believe television is the SOLE "proof" society values beauty over brains or money. Please do not put words in my mouth. I also meant it metaphorically, which I'm happy to see you picked up... it was meant to include advertising, magazines, clubs, everyday interacation with others (beauty will usually get more attention than brains/money), etc. The influence on beauty in our society is pervasive. Television was a simple (VERY simple) example... so don't get all excited about it. Personally, the only television I watch is Simpsons (every Sunday night, baby! 🙂 )... and if I had a choice other than the options given, I'd pick personality first.

A balance between brain and beauty. (nice alliteration, huh?)

It's tough to deal with dumb chicks. Tough to reach a compromise in times of trouble. i.e. "You're just trying to sound smart and telling me I'm dumb."

Money is not an issue. High tech jobs are nice. 🙂

You can obviously tell which quality Happykitten's boyfriend has chosen. 😛

I'm going to have to go with beauty first too, i think the other two can change more easily, this is ofcourse taking into account the situation illkid gave.

Brains, but also a serious interest in technology and theoretical physics. Guess why I haven't found 'my' significant other yet 😉

Love, money, marriage and beauty are things I don't care about.

Elledan: Aren't you like 15? I could have sworn you were, and if you are you are really too young to be worrying about a significant other. Enjoy some of the insignificant ones while your young. If you are older than that, then just ignore what I said... 😉
