Poll: best type of screw driver head

FoBoT

No Lifer
Which is the superior screw head?

i of course voted for Square/Robertson , as any good woodworker would 😀

slotted, since you can usually use anything to open them, like a screwdriver, knife, random thin piece of metal, etc. Or hex, since you can use pliers

I'm a socket head man myself, for grunt work though I'll take a hex. Slotted screws are worthless (boo)

<< It's not "slotted" it's "standard" >>

Says who?

You should add drilled spanner head to your list just for kicks, also that screw head they use in the bathroom stalls all the time.

I didn't see the Vodka and Orange juice choice...so I didn't vote 😉

<< Isn't hex and Allen the same thing??

How about Reed and Prince?
How about Bristo?
Pozidriv?
>>

Allen = stick a hex inside a hole, turn. Hex = big screw with a hex at the end of it, which you can take off with wrench or socket, i believe.

I know what you mean, but he did say 'screw driver head'.
We always used the terms Allen wrenches and hex keys interchangeably.

haha slotted....think about this:
try screwing in a slotted screw, and NOT have it slip....now that screw is on your precious mobo...slit AH &*%@&%!
Most other types of screws:
yay, the screw went in perfectly....
just a hypothetical situation, but a realistic one none-the-less 😉

You forgot a few.

The big one is the unsripable new one that is a cross between a #3 philips and a square drive. Used mostly for decking now.

And I work at Home Depot so you can bet I know what a Robertson is 😛

Definitely Robertson. I have stripped torx in the past (damn thing was in there good!) and have yet to see a Robertson strip.

Er, that would be a bolt, not a screw.. In fact, the "screws" with Allen heads are also bolts, I believe.
