Poll: Best Online Multiplayer Game

I'm actually just doing this to decide which one to buy. So, which is the best strictly online multiplayer game (by that I mean completely online, eg. EverQuest or Asheron's Call).

I'm definitely waiting for Neverwinter Nights. However, if you must play one now, I know a lot of people who love Everquest (and its various expansions).
 
Strictly multiplayer? I'd have to say a MUD/MUCK/MUSH/etc.. My personal fav is Apocolypse V.. but I'm a big RPGer and not a graphics junkie so if I you can sit at a terminal and read text for hours this is the game for you. 😉
 
Counter-Strike is by far the best online game of all time! It is so addicting and way more fun than Quake and Unreal Tourney. Also the team aspect makes it a challenge also. Try it out and let me know what you think.
 
yeah, even though UT provides you with a one player option, it sucks. online is the only way to play UT.
 
Why does a game have to be "strictly" online for it to count as a good online game? Anywho, my vote is for Counterstrike, Diablo 2, and Neverwinter Nights (for the future), but it seems the original poster is looking for a MMORPG, which I don't like...
 
Half-Life is probley one of the best mp's ever. My connection at my house is too slow so I play it at school. As long as you have a good connection get it.
 
CS ALL THE WAY!! Played it for a year, hasn't stopped being fun yet. But then again, im so darn good how could it not be fun? =-]

 
Hm... I don't play strictly online games (for a lack of money 😛) but I think Unreal Tournament was great fun... Baldur's Gate II wasn't bad... and I'm awaiting Neverwinter Nights. BTW, is Ultima Online any good - anyone know? Thanks.
 
Diablo2 is good, but lag and bnet are two words that go hand in hand together... many veterans like bloodrend have quit due to lag 🙁 till you played this game you dunno what the definition of lag is 😱

UT is good for MAAAAAD fun 😀
 
DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT get Counter-strike. I have been a junkie since it's beta 4 version and I still play everyday. If you have ony sort of life at all stay away from this game. Anybody thought about starting a CS addiction center?
 
i been playin since beta3, had times when i would play all day and do nothing else... however, still it doesnt compare to a severe case of diablo2 addiction... 😱
 
OK, while I appreciate all these suggestions, I meant the types of games that I was suggesting, Asheron's Call and Everquest basically. I own Counter-Strike, it's great fun, but that wasn't the kind of game I was looking for.
