[Poll]: Best current console controller?

I say PS2 all the way, especially for fighting games. This came up in a Soul Calibur 2 discussion.

Gamecube is the best for adventure/rpg type games. PS2 is the best all around. I still don't like the XBox controller in either S or original forms. The buttons are too small and too hard to distinguish with my thumb.

Gamecube, having evolved from the near-perfect N64 controller.

Being an Xbox owner does not blind me to the fact that the button placement on the Controller S bites. And I've never liked any of Sony's controllers. Even the button names annoy me. Triangle? Square? Give me colours or letters, goddamnit. :p

GC is too small, Xbox S the white/black buttons are in the middle of no where.

None are perfect. I like the PS2's button layout but it's possible to get the shoulder buttons stuck, which is annoying.
The Xbox S is a nice size but I don't like the feel or location of some of the buttons.
The Cube has the best analog sticks IMO but a crappy D-pad.

PS2's is to frickin small. Plus I hate the layout. Cube's is nice but awkwardly placed buttons. Original XBox fits my hand like a glove. S is too odd after having played the original but the black/white buttons are placed more conveniently

What i find really annoying is i have a ps2 and a friend has an box. the x button is the lowest one on the ps2 and is generally the action button. On the xbox, it is in a different spot. I usually only play football games and everytime i call the receivers i throw it to the wrong guy.

PS2. Fits my hands great without having to stretch. I have small hands with thick fingers

PS2 probably, then Xbox controller S. Gamecube controller is, quite honestly, a junky piece of sh*t. Its tiny pre-pubescent-boy size aside it's made from rinky dink plastic and feels equally low in quality to the N64 controller before it. But then this is all very appropriate considering the gaymecube is for kids anyway :)

PS2 is my favorite but I agree that the shapes on the buttons suck, letters or numbers would be better.

ps2 wins no contest. Gamecube is good, but I hate the upper buttons and the way they are shaped. The XBOX controllers are just too big for the buttons.

ps2 controller is too small. its like they took a snes controller, added a couple of shoulder buttons, made the d-pad a bit harder to use, and then shrunk the whole controller. the GC controller is really nice, but i wish it had the digital click on the left trigger as well as the right trigger. the xbox controller-s has the housing for the triggers right where i want to put my middle finger on the back of the controller. its just not right. plus getting to the (relatively unused, in my experience) black and white buttons and also start and select is a bit difficult. i have to look.

What he said. Wavebird is pretty nice, although rumble wavebird would be better.
Oh yeah, forgot to say that Wavebird wins when it comes to usefulness. I have all my A/V gear in an armoire, including my consoles. I can play GC without opening the armoire, so no one needs to see the mess of components and cables that lies inside!!! Rumble would be a nice feature, but I gladly give it up for the excellent battery life of the Wavebird. :)

I prefer the Xbox "S" to any of the others. Best feel in my hands, best analog sticks, and the most sturdy, IMHO. I'm with Skoorb and feel that the 'Cube controller is a dinky, chintzy piece of trash, and the PS2 just tries to be the comfortable shoe and fit everyone...while not really excelling at anything.

My only complaint on the "S" controller is the often complained about black and white buttons...but most games I play don't utilize them much in actualy "fast and furious" gameplay...with the exception of Enter the Matrix.

Xbox original. Everything else is for midgets or something, they are smaller than my hands.

Ps2 controller is too small but no mention of the developmentally-deficient target audience of the gaymecube controller?!

yep.. i'm a fan of the 'baby seal beater' as well.... once you get used to it-- everything else just seems so tiny and un-useable.
