Heh. Many a bloody thumb in this house caused by Street Fighter II. I still break out the SNES on occasion to play it. But the current champ in my opinion has to be Soul Calibur.
Soul Caliber is a sick game IMO, just too many good memories of SF II fests w/ friends. I mean that was THE game back in the day. We'd swap controllers when we lost, and I usually swapped mine after my thumb got sore, cause I'd always use the cheesy low foot slide against the corner.
I was actually gonna buy SC the other day, but since Wal-Mart was out, and I was in a hurry. I rented it just to get a fest going with some buds. It brang back some good memories, cause one of the guys that played that night hung out back then, when we played SF II for hours on end.
Voted for SF Alpha 3. SF2 was good for it's time, but it's way too unbalanced. I used to be able to pull off Guile's "handcuff" move all the time on that game though.
The street fighter ex series is my personal fav. Super Street Fighter II is floating around somewhere for the dreamcast... you just need to know how to find it
I like original SF2. yeah, It was pretty cheap with Guile or Dhalism with the, "invisible throw", "magic throw", etc, Handcuffs, Reset the game, Freeze, etc. Dhalsim could turn invisible and reset the game also.
I like Steet Fighter Alpha 1 Gameplay the best.
Also Killer Instinct Graphics are still good today for a 2D fighter
Mortal Kombat 2, is by far the best! The graphics were so ahead of it's time, and the number of characters was just amazing. And also, the thing that I think makes it better then the SF series, was all the hidden codes, fatalities, babalities, etc.
