When clicking on a long thread (lets say average of less than 60 posts), do you read through every thing before replying, or you just read the OP post and reply, or you just read the first few posts and reply?

Sometimes I'll just read the first few and the last few, or just skim through and read the longer posts that seem to have more substance. But it really depends on how interested I am in the subject.

only the first few posts unless it's really interesting which would be like 1% of all threads

For very long threads, I read the first 20 or so, then I go to the end of the thread and read backwards. That way, the quotes and responses lead me to the interesting posts in the thread. :p

Where's the option for "I usually post first, then read all the posts in the thread and realise my post made absolutely no sense and made me look like a dumbass"?

That's the same as the third choice, only mine's a nicer way of saying it. :D

Hmmm. If it's interesting, agressive, nasty, talked about in FI, I usually read (scan) the whole thing. If it's the typical, I don't bother.

I read the original post and maybe a few of the first replies and then I read the last page

ill usually reply based on the title, then go back and read the whole post, sometimes the whole thread even, and reply again.

I usually try to read the whole thread, paying particular attention to the short posts hoping to find a good one-liner that will make me laugh.

I skip 99% of threads which are more than 40 posts long by the time I see them. I don't have time to read them all, and what I say will just get buried in other posts. Thus they are a waste of my time. So I voted 'I refuse to answer this poll'.

I read everything unless I have a really big comment to make (like I see something blatently wrong). I'm pretty suprised that 36 other people voted that they read everything though... I always thought most people don't read everything.

As I were reading that warcrow's (blatant plagerizing) post about the Matrix Trilogy, it's just dawn on me that not many people read anything other than the OP's post....

Surprised that the first choice didn't get any vote yet.
