Babyon 5 was good too. But the first season with sinclair is garbage. The 5th season was atrocious. So, you're left with 3 really good seasons with the 4th season being rushed like crazy.

The series seemed to keep buliding up and building up but never delivered at the end.

I liked the first season. The 5th was a piece of $hit, you're right. How can you say it didn't deliver? Armaggedon between Vorlons, Shadows and everyone else not good enough for ya?

The 4th season was the last season:eek:

Today was one of my favorites. Its when berkly becomes really smart and takes over the ship
I'm sure you mean Barclay. But yes TNG is the best!

Babylon 5 delivered and delivered well, but in season 4, not season 5. Episodes like "Severed Dreams" and "Endgame" are better than any ST:TNG episode, and the story arc allowed for complexity and character and plot (and subplot) development that TNG could never hope for.

Star Trek TNG lost sight of something important: Aliens are alien, not just people with funny ridges on their foreheads. They also forget that space has 3 dimensions, not two.

Well, TNG was syndicated so they didn't want story arcs.

If you want story arcs, try DS9.

EDIT: oh, and watch "The Chase" for the ST explanation of similarity of Alien species.

B5 was syndicated as well.

That was their cop-out explanation for not having the budget for more elaborate alien species. But....it is no worse than Stargate SG-1 going to completely different galaxies and finding people speaking perfect English.

I'm not saying syndicated = not arc be definition, but the minds behind Star Trek didn't want to have their episodes be limited to being shown in order / groups, so this was an intentional decision made. I think it was based of Gene not wanting a network to have control over the show.

And yeah, I didn't think their esplanation was a good one, but at least they acknowledged their limitations that led to low variation in their designs. (pretty low budget afterall and no computers to aid the process either)

the best scene is B5? When Londo was talking smack to G'kar calling him 'CITIZEN gkar' and gkar coming back with his lengendary speech. Damn I got to see that scene again!

Londo wasn't a "good" guy but he was a great character. You could tell the actor really enjoyed playing him. Especially when he said "Mr. Garrrrribaldi".

As a bonus, B5 had "Flounder" from Animal House (Stephen Furst) and Will Robinson (Bill Mumy).

SPOILERS if you care.....

The relationship between G'Kar and Londo was a huge plus for the show....this thread makes me want to watch it all again (I have all the DVD's).

One of the greatest moments is when Londo is on the ship shooting mass drivers at G'Kar's homeworld...the look on Londo's face. You can tell he was just like "what have I done?"....The whole thing with Londo was a slippery-slope type scenario...he got in a little at a time and before he knew it he wasn't in control of himself....just an awesome series.

Indeed. Original ST could have done with someone killing Kirk in the first episode. Would have made it a whole lot better.

never seen babylon 5 though... maybe I should

Skip season 1. Seasons 3&4 are the best IMHO.

You're missing some important background material if you skip season 1. Watch season 1 so you can understand the references to it in season 2-4!

Isn't there implied lesbo sex in season 1 between Ivanova and Talia Winters? I'd buy that for a dollar

Voted 'other'

I never realy gave B-5 a chance. I've heard good things about Battlestar Galatica though. I really should give it a chance. There's a miniseries and it's in season 2, right?

I voted other, because my fav ATM is (the older, non crappy) Stargate.
