To the hjo3 above me - the reality is that you are male under 25. Once your 25th birthday rolls around you will see a SIGNIFIGANT drop in price. There was a pretty funny Youtube video once where the kid was on the phone with the auto insurance company that went like this:

Guy: "So my rate is lowered when I hit 25?"
Agent: "Thats correct, sir"
Guy: "So when do I get my birthday gift?"
Agent: "Birthday gift?"
Guy: "Yeah. I figured once I hit 25 you sent me driving ability."

Insurance rates are "statistically" the best way to screw you.

You bought the car before finding out how much it would cost to insure?

I had a general idea of how much it was going to cost... ~300 dollars a month, but i didn't know other people were getting so much less.

full coverage, 50,000 property damage, 100,000+ bodly harm

If I owned my own home I would get at least 500k for bodly harm especially in NJ. (though I hope I don't lose anybodies pants).

I pay around 320 a month for 8 months a year.

Man I love Geico and their stacking discounts. I pay less for 2 cars then most people pay for 1.

Too bad they don't operate in MA, which is where I am moving in a few weeks. :frown:

You had a totaled car within the last year, that is a big red flag for insurance companies. You could try increasing your deductible to get a better rate. That going to 500/1000 (comprehensive/collision) should shave a few bucks off that monthly payment.

I'm 27 and have been driving since 95. I have one speeding ticket (on record) since I moved from Michigan to Ohio. My wife has one as well. All cars have full coverage. with at least a $500 deductible. Some have $200. I can't remember which ones.

I use to pay $275 a month for a 99 Camaro Z28, 94 Corvette, 02 Monte Carlo SS, 06 GTO, and my house. Now it's $265 without the 94 Corvette and an 07 Corvette in it's place. Don't ask me how a new Corvette is less for the same coverage, but it is. I have USAA.
