POLL: Audigy 2 Dilema

I currently have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Sound Card along with my Creative Inspire 6600 6.1 Speakers. I like the setup but have been reading about the Soundstorm Audio that is on my Abit NF7-S and was wondering if it would be just as good if not better. If so, I'll use the onboard and forget about the Audigy, or should I just keep my Audigy and forget the Soundstorm?

Main uses:

Gaming
Listening to Music
Using as a PVR with my Leadtek WinFast TV2000XP Deluxe

If it's a Audigy 2.. keep it. otherwise it's a toss up between Audigy 1 and Soundstorm. Audigy 2 provides much better analog output than Soundstorm.

Ya, I hooked up the Soundstorm and other than losing my rear channel on my speakers, I really hear no difference. I tried recording some stuff and the line-in wasn't as clear as it is on the Audigy, but other than that, even with the speakers turned up all the way, I can't tell a difference...

If a DD5.1 receiver isn't in your future, I'd stick with the A2 and speakers. Digital output is where the SoundStorm shines.

SoundStorm audio quality vaires board to board and probably run to run, but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that the A2 has higher quality DACs on it.

The Audigy2 is the best gaming card on the market and there is nothing the Soundstorm does better than the Audigy2. If you already own both, there isn't any reason to use the Soundstorm.

With his current setup, there is nothing the Soundstorm does better than the Audigy 2. Nothing. He already owns both, so what would be the point of using an inferior product, based on what future purchase he might make? There's nothing stopping him from switching at that point.

I'm just trying to get you to understand that there's a difference between "The Audigy2 is every bit as good and probably better than the nVidia SoundStorm for analog audio" and "There's nothing the nForce can do that the Audigy can't."

You're allowed to have your own opinion. Heck, you're even allowed to share it. Spouting it off as though it is fact, especially when you're wrong, is going to get a response from someone else.

So I guess what I'm really trying to say is that you're wrong. I made very specific statements without bias as to the capabilities of both cards. All you've done so far is talk up the fanboy party line...

Just search for 'encod' anywhere in the document. Gee, look how Creative goes out of their way to mention that the Audigy 2 ZS can decode Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS, but don't mention anything about encoding the same protocol...
