I've just downloaded the new 3R BIOS for my Abit KT7A-RAID. Just wondering if you all are getting the same reults. With the 3C BIOS, I could get my Athlon 1.33 to run at 1450MHz reliably (145x10). It would not POST at FSB speeds higher than 147MHz.
I flashed with the 3R BIOS yesterday. I got the FSB up to 153MHz. Cool!!! At this time, my memory is running at CAS2 and TURBO settings with 4-way interleave enabled (128MBx2 PC-133 Memman w/Infineon CHiPs). Sandra memory benchmarks indicated only a 3MB increase in ALU & FPU. Huh?? That kinda sucks, I said!!!! CPU & MultiMedia marks showed a healthy increase though. So I'm mostly pleased here. At 153MHz the Memory crapped out after 1min of Q3: Arena. Lowering the timings didn't help at all. 151MHz seems to be the sweet spot here. So the memory would actually run slower at my previous clock witht his new BIOS.
My CPU will post at 1550 to 1575, but will come up with a nt kernal error just before the Win2K splash screen. The sweet for the CPU seems to be 1520MHz. One other thing though. Even at 1450MHz (145x10), my idle CPU temp is 11 degrees C Higher at the same speed. Under load, about 3 degrees C higher.
All my peripherals are running great at the elevated PCI/AGP bus speeds. Check my rig for more info.
Here's what I'm running at now:
1520MHz (152x10), 50deg idle, 53deg load
Memory at Cas2, Turbo, 4way Interleave enabled
Sandra Mem - 661/651 ( virtually no increase)
Sandra CPU - 4260/2076
Sandra MM - 8344/9580
Basically, I'd just like to know if anybody is having the same memory performance & heat issues. If not for the memory issue here, then this would be a great BIOS.
