Poll: Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines

OK I've been deciding on a few things and stuff about life and I think my life is way too easy, my parents make a huge amount of money, I have a BMW and all that crap. The point is I've been thinking of joining the military, i have been getting info here and there and have decided on either the Army or The Marines. My friend is in the NAVY and crap, but I dont like the NAVY at all, especially their uniforms. However I like the ARMY and Marines. I was just wondering what you guys would pick, etc.

Thanks,
Nore

PS: Any Military peeps in here????

None

I value my arms and legs...

Patriotism is overrated. I will fight to defend my home. I will not fight(or "keep the peace&quot😉 in a country a thousand miles away that has nothing to do with us (croatia, etc).

My stepfather is a Vietnam veteran that has been permanently crippled. "For what," I ask. We go in there fighting, when war is never "declared," fight several years, and leave just to have the North Vietnamese reclaim the land we captured. Korea was a mistake, also...

The day the U.S. quits trying to police the world is the day I will not have a problem with the armed forces...

[edit]
I got wound up over the armed forces. Most of my family has served. My mom and dad were in the Navy. My grandfather, uncle, and stepdad were in the Army. If I would REALLY have to choose: Air Force

Most of the Marines I know are crazy.

Depends on what you want. Air Force and Navy will provide you with training that is MORE LIKELY to get you a better job outside. Army/Marines will be more outside camping and guns stuff. Air Force will not show you as much of the world as Navy will. I went AF because of the non-travel stuff. Worked out great for me.

<< Army/Marines will be more outside camping and guns stuff. >>

Thats basically the main reason why I like them more, Im an adventure kind peep. I like guns etc. When im bored I like to read about guns and uhhh, etc.

I used to agree with Dedpuhl. And there are some things the US gets into that seems like we shouldn't. But now I have alot more respect for vets. Especially Vietnam vets. Military is not for everyone. But it can teach you alot about yourself and life. It will also give you opportunities you wouldn't otherwise have. As for people who protest the military...they aren't too bright. But that's why we are there. So they can have the freedom to protest.

Well, given today's political climate and america's apparent complete fear of losing life in armed conflict, I can't recommend the army. Best you might get there is border patrol along the TX border or keeping the "peace" in Bosnia/Yugolavia. 😛 Fighter pilots are still seeing action though...and the navy also puts planes into the sky and fires off cruise missiles.

btw, I agree with the sentiment that military service should put you in a country defense situation and not a policing role otherwise it's not worth it...but I am glad others disagree and choose to serve!

<< Army, facilities are nicer than you'll find on a Navy base >>

When it comes to quality of life, Air Force has it the best. All other branches spend money on weapons and military stuff first, housing last. AF spends on housing and other like facilities first. Best dorms/base housing, best chow halls, best NCO clubs, best fitness facilities. Ask most military members and they'll tell you.

<< Try the Coast Guard! You don't get sent into a "police action" and you help save lives >>

I'll ask about that, Thanks for the tip

But in the Coast Guard you are pushing further the most endless, hopeless war we have ever been in...

the "war" on Drugs

<< But in the Coast Guard you are pushing further the most endless, hopeless war we have ever been in... >>

Yes, that's like sending the Enterprise to guard the distant Romulan border when they should be defending earth against the Borg's invasion of the Federation. Priorities all out of wack..

if you can get into the air force or naval academys it'd be best to do that, if not and your still a smart guy join up under the RANGERS, 10 times cooler than the regular army plus after serving as a ranger you can advance on into the seals or delta force

Yea Ima sign up as a Ranger. I'll tell you guys everything tomorrow.
Bootcamp is 9 weeks, hehe. No Comp for 9 weeks is suck though, but its all for the good. 🙂

I would say the marines, although it would be cool to fly a jet....I would want the better training you get as a marine. Although one disadvantage would be that the marines are almost always the first to be sent in a conflict.

🙁

I just have ONE question - can I go be your parents' surrogate kid while you're gone and drive your BMW??????? 😛

Seriously, though - if you signed up infantry hope you signed up for 11-Xray (Infantry unassigned, needs of the Army) and at least got that big huge signup bonus! Also, you can't just sign up to BE a Ranger... It's a school, an additional designation to Infantry - be aware that you may not get assigned to a Ranger Battalion even after going through Ranger School. Good luck!

Btw, the bonus for signing up 11X can be up to $20,000 for a four year enlistment. Make SURE that you know what you're getting into.
