jumblies:

I think your BMI calculator is suck. (I know it's not yours ;))

To take into account only someone's height and weight when determining fitness is silly at best. Think of pro athletes or body builders, many of them could be considered >30 on the BMI, but might have less than 10% body fat and be in perfect health.

Jumblies, the BMI is complete garbage.
Most wrestlers, weiglifters, bodybuilders, footall players, boxers would be classified as obese...
A far better measure is bodyfat %.

Here is what I am talking about:
I am 5' 9'' and was at 205 lbs when this picture was taken:

Example of me being "obese"

Thats means I have a BMI of 30.32
If I dropped another 10 pounds and worked on my abs, I would be on the cover of a muscle mag. Too bad I like BEER too much....

I'm probably 10-20lbs above my theoretical "ideal" weight for being 5'9".

I'm a little thick around the middle at 185-190lbs.

Remember folks, sometimes you have to read the original reference. If you look at the population, a high BMI is predictive of morbidity and mortality. IOW, don't just look at yourself in the mirror, but thanks for letting us know how ripped you are.

[Just b/c you could be on the cover of a muscle mag doesn't mean you're not sick. (remember arnold's heart valve, that equals morbidity)(or how about the wrestler billy graham who axed his liver with roids)];) BTW here a photo of me since you were kind enough to share hehehehe.

Jumblies,
You are referring to athletes that abuse steriods.
By the way, I have never used any illegal substances to enhance my physique or performance.

A person that lifts and exercises regulary with have more strength and energy than an inhently "skinny" person with a low BMI. I would also argue that the he/she would have longer and enjoyable lifespan.

BTW, a correlation does not implie significance. Any college level Statistics class would teach you that.

Also, that pic of you is unhealthy. Body Fat %'s below 5% put you in great risk of injury. People with abnormally low bodyfat %'s are more susceptible to bruising their internal organs.

FYI, my sport is not bodybuilding, but olympic lifting...
So I don't give a rat's ass about getting a low bodyfat %

That example of you being obese was not good enough.

My husband says that I am squishy and likes that he always has something to hold onto!!!

There are too many yummy foods out there to be thin!! You only live once!:D

Ok my husband informed me that I am FIRM only a certain section of me...mainly between by neck and belly are squishy.....

I don't want people to think I am fat....just firm....:p

6'5" male at 155 lbs... you decide. :)

About 10 years ago (in high school) we checked our body fat percentage in health class... mine didn't even register.

i consider myself obese.

i have a big gut from eating (i don't drink) and i have b00bs (could be hormonal)...

yeah i'm a guy...

i don't have the frame to be wide. but the gut gives me a 34" waste, 35" if bloated... ;-)
