Poll: are you neat, average or messy?

I'm trying to get the place up to standard for the weekend (laundry off the floor, dishes washed, garbage out) and I was wondering:

Are most of you neat? Slobs? or somewhere in between?

Here's the poll. My definition of NEAT is that if someone special came over (boss, mother in law, girlfriend, whatever) your place looks fine. AVERAGE is that you would have to spend some time tidying up, but you could do it. MESSY is that there's no way it'll look "girlfriend-clean" without mass explosives.

I'm VERY neat. I live in a house with 3 other guys and it's a fuggin pain trying to keep things clean.

The bastards leave dirty dishes in the sink and glasses on the counter (THERE'S A DISHWASHER RIGHT BESIDE THE SINK YOU DAMN IDIOTS, RINSE IT OFF AND PUT IT IN THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:|:|:| IDIOTS!!!!!!!!:|:|)

They leave glasses on the living room table as well along with napkins. I'm always cleaning up behind them.

And I always keep my room spotless, but one of the roommate upstairs lives in a virtual pig stye. It's absolutely disgusting. Drink bottles, dirty clothes, pizza boxes, dirty crap all over the place.

I'm weird. My house is very neat and I hate clutter. But my office (in my house) is always a mess and very cluttered.

To me, a clean office and desk is an unproductive one. I can't seem to get anything done when it's too clean.

My desk/computer area at home is average, but my room is a mess. The rest of the apartment is in between average and messy depending on the day.

Same here. Unorganized chaos in the "personal" areas, desk, office, work bench. But tidy and organized in "public" areas - kitchen, living room, ect.

Interesting, I'm the opposite. I find it easy to keep my work areas organized, I guess because I care. The "public" areas always seem to take more effort.

Maybe you aren't working hard enough.

When I was a kid it literally was the 4th option, there were periods of time where I didn't see my floor for months. I'm the polar opposite now, I even make my bed the minute I wake up.

I used to be messy but when we moved four years ago, I guess I finally realized how much junk I had and how messy it all was. I haven't gotten rid of a lot of the junk I have, but it's a lot cleaner and more organized now. Sometimes I get lazy and don't make my bed or have a couple empty soda cans in my room but the floor is almost always clean and if it's not, it's a matter of 2 or 3 minutes putting yesterday's dirty clothes in the hamper or putting my shoes in the closet or something small like that.

Funny story... two years ago, I lived in a situation similiar to NFS4's. I was always cleaning up after everybody. One night, we had some people over and one of the girls remarked "This place is so clean. Which one of the guys that lives here is gay?" Similar stuff all this last year in a different apartment with three different roommates. Everyone that ever came over always said "Wow, your apartment is so clean."

I'm called "anal" by many, due to my obsessive neatness. The concept of putting someone down because they're not a slob always struck me as wrong.

People who live like slobs have a problem. There's something wrong with them.

The floors are vacuumed everyday. Furniture is dusted every day. Bathrooms are cleaned 2-3 times a week. Never dishes in sink. Fridge cleaned out once a week. Laundry always done. Windows washed every month, or when needed. Cat litters cleaned every day.

But we have stuff laying around. The "people live here" type of stuff.

Messy but clean.

I keep bathroom and kitchen clean. But I have a cluttered living room and desk full of books, mags, and knick knacks, but no left over food or dirty clothes.

somewhere between average and messy. My room is usually a mess, but once a week I'll tidy it up because I like to be neat and organized, I'm just too lazy/busy/efficient to make an effort to be organized all the time.
