I'm so happy I could sh!t, is how the expression goes, I think.
aznmist, there are so many assumptions that can hide in your question.
Are you happy. Who knows what happiness is? Ask yourself this question. What is happiness? When you arrive at your first definition will happiness shift and become something else. Can a person set out to be happy and succeed, or is that illusion.
So if you aren't happy, is that a problem. Maybe you aren't as deluded by illusions of happiness as some are. Maybe happiness is something that finds you, not something you find. Maybe there is something else that we seek that people confuse with happiness, something like our hearts desire, or wisdom, self realization or enlightenment. Maybe the only people who can seek it are those who are dissatesfied or extremely curious. Many think it's darkest before the dawn and the road to joy is through hell.
You give no clues to why you are unhappy, but I will venture a guess. Most everybody I see suffers from a lack of awareness of what they are feeling. We supress our feelings because we have been taught that it's bad to feel what we feel. Having turned off our feelings, what happiness can there be. Under all those feelings from hell joy is smothered. The happiness you seak is wearing the face of a monster.
