I'll be keeping my system, I'll love it long time :)

Once K8L is out, I'll look into building a new rig with DX10 card etc etc, but I see no point shovelling all this PC into a dumpster, I mean, it's certainly not as if it won't still be able to do everything I need it to do, so I'll almost definately just remove the monitors and so on from it, leave it running indefinately, and just remote desktop it on a second monitor over a gigabit connection if/when I fancy using it. It'll probably become my hugely over-spec'd download box or something. And you bet your ass it'll stay on 2kPro ;)

I have a 3.4 ghz Northwood. That's still plenty fast of a rig. I'll buy a conroe system probably next year when they are quad core and at around 3.5 or 4 ghz.

When the price is rite, I plan on replacing my two slowest systems (XP 2700+ Tbreds), I'm in no huge rush though.

I will keep my current rig and build a core 2 duo strictly for fun.....

By the way

I think the poll should ask if we know of any cats we would like to kick to the curb..

Nope. Opty @ 2.75ghz fast enough and running strong. When (and if) my CPU dies of overclocking (in 5 years) I can buy another cheap one off ebay :)

Seems silly to speculate until we've seen some real numbers on the Conroe, some real comparisons of a final, shipping product. SuperPi doesn't make the CPU, it's one test in dozens, and it's very much synthetic and not often representative of the overall performance of a processor. As we've seen, a highly OC'd Cely D can beat an FX-60 in SuperPi, that doesn't mean it's going to be better for apps and games and people actually play.

Be nice if Conroe is all that and a bag of bananas, but until I see a few in-house reviews from people besides Tom and Anand, it's still questionable to me.
