POLL: Are you eating a Paczki today????? EDIT: *PIC*

I used to back home every sunday. MMMMMMmmmm... i could taste the greasy, marmalade filled goodness still.

MMMmmm.... i wish i was by Hamtramck, MI like i used to be. it was wonderful, eating fresh ones made authentically by old polish ladies.

Now i have to suffice eating them from a grocery store.

I eat donuts often.
They're actually not jelly donuts - although they do look like them. It's a more "dense" dough.

There are *no* Polish people here where I live now so I can't get them locally. I had my Mom pick up a few for me last weekend because I was going to be there visiting, I didn't get any last year because I didn't realize no one had heard of them out here. You get some really weird looks asking for them in the bakery (pernounced "poonch-key").

Are you on Mars?

It's weird - maybe because I moved from a city with an entire Polish neighborhood, but I went into the bakery expecting to see paczki's and found none last year. EVERY grocery store in Toledo had boxes upon boxes of them - you had to buy them early or risk being stuck with prune.

Ironically, I live in a city with the same name as a city in Poland (Warsaw), yet there is no Paczki here. They were talking about them on the South Bend TV station this morning so they do exist in Northern Indiana, just not here 😀

They had a big news story on this morning's TOday Show or whatever it is at a local place with a line out the door for everyone gettings these things. I had no idea wtf they even were.

Definatly. Then I'll be gorging on a fish fry for friday.

mmmmmmmmmmmMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Those things have like 2000 Calories and have tons of fat, cholesterol and other baddies. So yes.... eventually I will be eating one or 2.
