Smartass is a scapegoat term used by dumbasses when they cannot match or did not think about a point made by another person. So calling someone a smartass implies that you consider yourself a dumbass relative to that person. Do I consider myself a smartass? I don't know... I'd have to spend time with the opponent first to get a bearing on if I'm a smartass or a dumbass comparatively.
