a geek is the one who asks this kind of question. So therefor, I am a nerd and you are a geek. Putting you one step below me.

The way I see it:

Nerds are like those guys in math class with the pocket protectors who founded the chess club.
Geeks are like a toned down version of a nerd, usually close to a nerd without the pocket protector and the chess club.

In terms of social skills...geeks have some chance to interact with people who are not geeks. Nerds have no such chance :)

I consider myself a Geek.

The REAL difference:

Nerds go to Star Trek conventions and Math Bowls.

Geeks go to Orgies.....

A Nerd is someone who is into Star Trek, Star Wars, and other "Star" movies. They spend alot of their time playing videogames, watching porn and managing their "Magic The Gathering" cards. They played alot of D&D when they were younger, mostly as a Dungeon Master. They usually stink and they work at the local video store. Some Nerds are quite smart but alot of them are not.

A Geek is someone who spends all their time on a computer, they may play videogames but their true love is overclocking and performing other tweaks to their computer so they can brag about their benchmark scores. They usually reinstall their OS every two months and have even dabbled in Linux from time to time. Most Geeks are rather intellegent although their socal skills leave much to be desired.

A Dork is a offshoot of a Geek they too adore their computer but they are more into the software side and spend alot of their time coding software or creating websites. They would rather communicate by typing keys then actually speaking. They do not play many videogames because they feel computers are a spiritual device meant to enlighten their exsistance and bring peace to the earth. Actually this comes from when they tried to play Quake 3 and never scored one frag and where constantly made fun of for being a "Newbie". The Dork is probably the most intellegent of the three but since he will never have physical contact with a women, his seed will end when he dies.

I always considered nerds to be the kids who do nothing but study math, physics, etc. I consider geeks to be people who have a lot of electronic toys, computers, and that sort of thing. Therefore, I am a geek and there's nothing wrong with that.
