POLL: Are you a good driver?

It's pretty hard not to be an above average driver here in Arizona. However, I think of myself as a good driver. Most of the people on the roads are going 20MPH over and rarely signal. This drives me insane.

Arrogant... I think you hit the nail on the head with that single word.

This poll proves that people are quite arrogant when it comes to driving.

And the creator of the poll?

This thread pops up every 2 or 3 months and I always answer it the same way: I'm an outstanding driver as evidenced by the fact that I hit every pedestrian and small furry animal that I aim at. None can escape my wrath.

I'm 17, and been drivin since like 7th grade... soo that like what, 5 years or so? No accidents yet....

what would that be?

I have been driving not quite a year, so there's no way I could be outstanding. However, I do not speed, I am alert to what's happening in the distance as well as what's going on nearby, and I don't have problems with road rage. This definitely puts me above average among my peers, but when compared to mature adults who have been driving for 15 to 20 years, I'm certainly not that great.

Oh yeah, I don't consider getting tickets a bad driver. Now getting tickets after cuasingn an accident or causing an accident...that's a bad driver. I'd rather have aware aggressive drivers than passive drivers that match people's speed on cell phones. Hell, I can tell a cell phone driver cause they always follow at an abnormally large distance, swerve a little bit, and exactly match the speed of the car in front of them, but if the car in front speeds up it takes them awhile to do so.

The thing that makes me mad is there's a wide open freeway, and then there's 1 car in the left lane holding up 20 cars. I mean, just get over if someone's behind you. Hell, I get over when I can when I'm doin 90+ just in case there might be someone going faster than me that might want to pass...I hate when people decide they're going 9 or 10 over and that's fast enough to be in the left lane even though they're holding up 20 cars...

Unfortunately people will never stop riding the left lane. This has been discussed a bazillion times here, and the results are the same.

Not true. If local authorities would give this issue the same priority as they do the other ones in their Smooth Operator campaigns in concert with a focus in drivers ed on this issue the behavior could indeed be changed. It works in most parts of the world and it used to work in the US until the 55 MPH limit started the general public on the road towards ignoring many laws and customs of the roadways.

Above average...

Had to give myself that rating because I still talk on the cell phone (occasionally) and change radio stations/ cds while driving.

I am the best driver on the road.

My wife on the other hand is a terror on the streets! :Q

Just doing that doesn't mean that you necessarily can do it well or safely. 😉

Hey, I voted "average". 😛
Then you are BELOW average according to your theorem.

I say the poll is BS (at best). 😀

An outstanding driver doesn't honk at firefighters and flick them off, jackwipe.

that is why i said some people will not agree with me

"Some"? Try "Everyone".

/sets fire to Ylen13's car and runs away

I've taken 3 driver's ed courses, two defense driving, skid school, and evasive maneuvering for emergency situations. Everything from a Geo Metro up to a mid-size U-Haul.

And I didn't vote. Just the fact that a colossal turd like Ylen put himself as "Outstanding" is the proverbial fly in the ointment.

I'm pretty good, no accidents or tickets.

This is a pretty subjective poll though...its like asking "Are you smart?" No one's gonna vote no unless they've got low self esteem.
