Help me choose a new case for a P4 1.6A overclocker.
Will have a DVD, CDRW, two HDs, etc.

Price is a concern, and in Canadian dollars.
1. Antec SX635 includes the Antec 350W PS is 17.25" high and $142.
2. Antec SX840 and 1040 both include the Antec 400W PS, are both 20.6" tall, and both about $208.
3. Lian-Li PC60U is aluminum, would be paired with the 350W Enermax PS and cost about $275.

2 because price is a concern. the Antec cases are awesome. I would htink you could get a better price than that on one.

Aluminum is a gimmick IMO, except for the fact that it's light, so that takes out the Lian Li in my book. It just seems overpriced for what it is. The SX635 is too small for me, but it's a nice case if you need that size. Now.. the SX1040 is nice. I put in a vote for that...#2. The 840 is pretty nice as well, but if you spend that much cash, just go for the bigger case of the two. It fits ample fans, has good airflow, has lots of drive space and is nice for working around in, and is made of sturdy 1mm steel, as opposed to most other cases which use .8mm steel.

So, yeah.. a vote for the SX1040. A case is something that's gonna last you longer than any other component, so why not get the best?

from my reading i would go with the antec 1040b (i like black lol) for the cooling the power supply and the room having a door to hide white drives is nice too.

the lian is nice but getting the drives to match hmm plus it has an 350W Enermax PS and i dont like the stuff i read about the 431 and the potts as i couldn't do the mods required (rail voltage) and not sure if this would be true in the 350?

Antec SX635 only has 3 drive bays 5 1/4 so you are limiting your upgradability imho

still i am partial to the 1040b so I would choose that 😉

different strokes for different folks ymmv

i vote for the antec SX1040, well sort of. i have the antec in black and it rocks so much that i wanted another one so i bought the chieftec DX-01W-420W in white to set beside it. They are the exact same case except for the power supply (400 vs 420) and the price.
it's not a copy either they are made by the same manufacturer.
The chieftec only costs about $75 in either black or white at newegg and is a very sweet deal.
so i'm actually voting for the chieftec because of the price
my 2 cents

If you can live with the small size, the 6xx series are good boxen, especially if you LAN party a lot. But if you need more space, the 10x0 is the way to go in my book. I can't really comment on the Lian Li, as I've never used one. Also, I hope those prices are Canadian $, as in the US you can get those cases for way less. Buy the Chieftec cases from Newegg right now, and you'll be getting them at about half the price you list above.

I had this dilemma when I was looking for a new case, it was between the Antec SX1040 Black and the Lian-Li PC60USB. In the end I decided to go for the Lian Li on purely cosmetic reasons.

If I need another (cheaper) case in the future I'll go for the Antec. I'm sure you would be more than happy with either as both are top class cases.

i have the antec830 and it's great. my brother is getting the sx635 cuz he thinks the 800 series is too big for him. i'd get the 1000 series but i don't like the door. but i do like the extra HD cage. it's nice.

Go for the 1040B. Nice dark grey color and a cool door to hide all those ugly off-white drive faces. Besides the door keeps the kiddies out.
