Question about music compact disks:

Let's say your favorite artist (or group) releases a new album - you just hear about it and a couple of your friends like this artist/group also. When you talk to you friend you say, "hey, so-in-so has a new (WHAT??) out"

Album, cd, disk, tape, other?

Reason I ask is I'm 33 years old and I'm still in the habit of calling it an "album" and I'm curious what other people call it..

Don't they have the category of "Album of the year" for awards still?

I say "A new CD is coming out".

"Do you plan on buying XXXXX's new CD?

Never really bought tapes, I got a CD player when I was 11 (26 now) and always bought CDs.

I've always called it an album. Still have a stack of the old vinyl lying around 🙂, though nothing to play it on :frown:.

album or cd

depends on who I'm talking to

I change what I'd normally say without realizing it sometimes

Did you hear about tool's new box set?

bad example....

oh yea, tools got a new disc/cd/album coming out in april

that's how I say it

Yet to ever use record...

i've used album once in a while...

CD is what u would see me say most often...

i'm 19

In middle school, everyone said tape, so I liked to say album. I still usually say album, but sometimes say I CD.

BTW, when's the last time any of you bought a "tape?" I think it was 1988 for me.
