Been watching prices for AMD Thunderbird. Not a huge drop in price but still a promise for the near future. I found in a couple placees that AMD 900 mhz just over last week till now dropped from $236 to $228 for socket chip at icompzdotcom and AMDS 800Mhz dropped from $141 to $133 over the same period.
Both around $11 shipping and up depending on your local.
Just sharing what I've learn-ed..
Hoping for greater drop towards the end of this month when AMD releases a new chip (hear-say)
Still watching.

I thought AMD was gonna announce new chips in the middle of October (the 16th?). That is next week. I believe they are going to announce the 1.2Ghz Thunderbird and the next level Duron (800? or something like that). Anyway, that is just what I had heard, so the price drops may be closer than you think.

Not a criticism - just want to know where I can "get" or "hear" industry info.

tbird's go about +100mghz these days due to tighter sorting.

750's and 800's durons should hit 1000.

keep that in mind, a duron @1000 will hold up to a t-bird at @900

my $.02, buy a duron at a low clock, people seem to be hitting the same numbers from 600 that they hit from 700 and 750. I went this road and my duron 600 is at 1000 right now, only cost me $49 too!
