These are all in the same class. They all cost about the same. Which would you buy if you were looking for the 4 cylinder version of either one? And why? Have you made the decision between these three recently yourself? Ie, under $20k out the door - I've no interest in 6 cylinder comparisons. BTW we're talking new, not used.

Accord. The Camry is a boat (with a hideous interior and exterior) and the Altima is miles behind the Accord in build quality.

I don't think you care for Nissans much do you :) Would the higher horsepower of the altima sway your opinion? The camry and accord are undoubtedly going to hold value more, and they are of higher quality, I agree.

BTW i voted results because I can't honestly say which one I'd take either. I know the interior build of the altima was crap for 03, but not sure if it's better on the 04s. Accords are a good reliable car, but the camry I recall did have a pretty smooth drive to it.

The Nissan Altima/Maxima are definitely more performance geared cars with better reliability than VW's.

I think the Camry is the most reliable of them all and has the quietest/softest ride BUT is very boat-like.

I have checked out the 2003 Altima and the Accord. The Altima looks nice from the outside, but the interior is very flimsy and plasticy. Accord may not look so good, but it's interior feels very sturdy, and is also nicer than the Altima's.

I got a question. In the Accord, how would one install a stereo system? Seems like the stereo it comes with is intergrated into the dashboard, and can't be removed.

I have ruled the camry out but I am seriously stuck between the altima and the accord. The accord because I know it is probably the better car but the altima because it is faster and a little less expensive!

Was the the 2003 altima? I know it was very cheapy on the inside but I thought perhaps that was changed for the 2004?

I honestly don't like the Altimas very much. 'specially the base model.... so I'd have to go with the Accord. maybe an 89 with popup headlights.. those were wicked :)

If you ruled out the Camry, go with the Accord V6. Better quality throughout, not that much slower, and better interior quality and build quality all around than the Altima. Not to mention better resale value.

However, the Camry SE V6 is no slouch either. It has a 225 HP/240 lb-ft 3.3 liter V6 with a 5-speed auto.

**EDIT** Ohh, you said 4-cylinder models...meh!! Camry SE I4 is pretty good too.

I agree.
The interior of the Altima is not very well done, to say the least.

I would probably pick the Accord but I admit I do not know all that much about the four cylinder models of these cars. I'm not sure what the horsepower rating of the Altima is but I know the HP of the Accord would be adequate. Even though the build quality of the Camry is impeccable I would not consider it; it is a boat.

they look like a bloated Daewoo!

I still don't get what all the hubbub is about the new Camry. Looks perfectly normal. Sure, the wheels could be larger, but it doesn't seem THAT offensive.

C&D says Altima is unchanged for 2004.

My buddy just bought a 2001 Altima, 4 cyl, base model... but damn, I can't get past the interior quality :( It's not HORRIBLE, but it could be so much better.

Skoorb, what about the Mazda 6?

Where is the Passat GLS 1.8T?

Out of the 4-cylinder models, it is definitely the superior car in it's class.

Taxes in? Likely not.

Otherwise, yes.
