no, it is a perfectly normal thing that im sure 95% of the male population of the wolrd thoroughly enjoy.
Now, could you please leave my thread?
Incase you didnt notice, this is a discussion on alcoholism, not masturbation.
Are you seeking help for your blindness?
You obviously cant read the thread title.

alcoholism is a disease.
alcoholics HAVE to drink
and mostly drink alone.

I am one, but I make sure I don't drink alone and that I don't drink very often.

In that case, you are not an alcoholic.
Not necessarily. With enough self-discipline it is possible to keep alcoholism under control. Even people that go through AA and have been dry for decades are still considered alcoholics.

I work with drug addicts and alcoholics every day so yes, I know a lot of them. Drinking regularly and being an alcoholic are two separate things. Most serious alcoholics do not drink to get drunk, but rather drink to stay away from reality or to maintain their own version of reality. The real difference is if a person can stop drinking without any side effects. Most alcoholics will suffer from chemical withdrawl within 8 hrs without alcohol, let me tell you, it's not a pretty sight. I have seen people go into siezure, fight for alcohol, and become extremely ill.
Those who have been able to stay away from alcohol (usually via AA or some sort of treatment) are considered to be "Recovering Alcoholics" but none the less they are still "Alcoholics".

That is really, really immature...
You didnt perhaps consider your thread getting locked due to the fact it was a totally pointless thread? No?
No, you assumed it was my post that got it locked. Perhaps it was my post, but it wasnt definately my post now, was it?
Why not pm the mods and ask, seeing as its causing you so much emotional pain.
Im sure if you ask nicely to get your thread unlocked my post can be edited out...
But then again, saying that, if it was purely MY post that was the PROBLEM, why did the mods not just edit my post and send me on vacation?![]()
Do me a favour mosh, get the fvck out my thread as im trying to have a serious discussion.

sounds all too similar to my situation at home. my dad is an alcoholic...he drank the first 8 years of my life. there was a year or so when he was in and out of rehab, and in and out of sobriety. when i was 9 or 10 he made some real serious steps and stopped drinking. it lasted till i was 16-17...then it all started again. his binges last for usually a week or 2...and that's a week or 2 of not going to work and basically just drinking and sleeping. his last serious one ended with him in the hospital with a blood alcohol level of 5.0, and the doctors said it was really a miracle he was alive. that was in early november...since then he went to rehab for only a week (absolutely rediculous, but thats another story involving how horrible the addiction rehab has become in the US...mostly because of insurance companies), he was going to AA meetings just about every day, but then just this weekend i came home to him passed out drunk. i'm 20 years old now...and i think i'm very lucky to understand what addiction involes, in that i know there is nothing i can do to fix it, and it's really not my problem. i'm very unlucky, however, to have to watch my father litteraly drink himself to death. i just hope he takes the path of sobriety before it's too late...he is a wonderful person when he's sober. he's never physically abusive or anything like that...he just has a very serious addiction.

Read, John Bradshaw's "The Shame That Binds" or anything by Pia Melody.

hmm, i might look into that. i'm not much of a reader, but i think this might interest me.
throughout everything i have had my mother here as well, my parents are still together. she's got a very good head on her shoulders and handles everything much better than anyone else could (IMO). but i do feel like i gave up alot and took on some adult qualities a little too early in life.
well...thanks for the suggestion, i'm gonna look into it.
